~*~Ron Howard: A Happy Day~*~
Here's a page on the wonderful, happy-go-lucky director!!
~*~*~*~
Little Ronny Howard was on stage at two, in movies at five, and in
the long-running The Andy Griffith Show (as "Opie") at six. He became a
wholesome and successful teen in American Graffiti and Happy Days, and
he even married (and stayed married to) his high school sweetheart.
Soon, however, Howard started balding and, at about the same time, quit
performing. He was twenty-six. He made a highly successful transition to
producer-director with films like Splash and Cocoon. Imagine Films, the
production company he runs with Brian Grazer, is one of the most
lucrative and respected in Hollywood. The early nineties were not
particularly kind to Howard, but his 1995 film, Apollo 13 paired a
compelling story with the current box-office golden boy, Tom Hanks, and
everyone--critics, moviegoers, Ron's accountant--was pleased. The
following year, Howard continued his winning streak with the
kidnapping-themed thriller Ransom, Mel
Gibson. He's next set to direct the comedy Ed TV, which stars (golden
boy) Matthew McConaughey. It's interesting to note that three of
Howard's children are named after the places where they were conceived:
Bryce Dallas in Dallas; Paige Carlyle and Jocelyn Carlyle at the Hotel
Carlyle in New York!
