this interview is taken from: LOSTYOUTH (#1) 1998
also seen in MRR (#179)1998. ya i know it's old but hey...
Lostyouth: Names and what you all play?
Rayny Poser: Well, for the last year or so, the line-up has been like this: Luther Heron is on the crazy axe while Andy Gammon is playing the low-end, and Squatter Sean Boone is on drums, and me one vocals
Ly: Influences?
RP: We are a pretty diverse band. Luther likes a lot of oi and street punk, and so do the rest of us. Andy is more into hardcore punk and crust, while Sean likes everything from oi to death to grindcore. I like just about everything except bad wanker shit.
Ly: When did the band start?
RP: Started in the very end of 1994 under the name Super Patient and a totally separate line-up. I was originally the guitarist, this guy Maco on bass, Rob (who is now in Tension and was in the Lager Lads) on drums and Andrew Lochhead on vocals. Our first show, however, was in February 1995 and had Maco on drums and John Bocoven on bass. I think that show was with Village Idiot and Plastic Gary.
Ly: Releases?
RP: We put out our first demo "Kill the Ravers" and it sold well. WE are releasing 5 of those songs on a 7" on Blind Beggar, any day now it will be done. We also have recorded for another 7" on Pair O Docs, which should be out soon. We're doing some various comps too; No Fate IV (HG Fact in Japan), "Caught in a Cyclone II" (Cyclone Records, USA) and a Shark D (Japan) Records CD sampler. Future releases coming up a little later with Pelado Records as well as Will E. Survive and more.
Ly: What is the local scene in Windsor like?
RP: The Rose City scene suffered for years and years and was more of a high school clique than it was a scene. But, now things are gradually getting better. There are a lot more younger kids coming out to shows, a lot more bands starting. Our shows are getting bigger and bigger, while losing the "tough guy" attitude that big scenes have.
Ly: What sort of "sound" would you consider your band to have?
RP: This is a tough one. I can't really think of anyone to compare us to, although just the other day, someone said we sound a little like old Poison Idea. WE just play fast, melodic punk. We have a touch of oi influence and a tough of hardcore, gruff vocals and catchy songs.
Ly: What was it like playing at Spider's Punkfest this year in front of over 3 thousand people?
RP: Insane! We were all so damn drunk and unprepared really. It was our first big show besides Windsor punkfest in `95. We played half-decently despite our drummer's inability to keep a beat due to his fucking PCP intake that day. People still seemed to like us, we got a lot of compliments and we had fun.
Ly: What's the most important "pre-show rituals" that your band always preforms?
RP: You mean getting drunk? Geez we never forget that. Getting drunk should be a "pre-everything" ritual.
Ly: Who would you say was your favourite band to play with?
RP: I liked the hardcore show with Strong Intention. Personally, I like Urbn Dk's music a lot better and we played with them a bunch, but the crowd and everything was peak at the Strong Intention show. I also like playing local shows with the Lager Lads because we're all pissed up and just wanna have a good time. Everyone seems to enjoy those kind of shows.
Ly: Tell me a little about your views of "new-school" punk and the major labels picking it up?
RP: Well, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that these watered-down, major label lovers contradict ideals that real punks have put together. Punk rock isn't an alternative to the mainstream if it is the mainstream.
Ly: What are your future plans for the band and for yourselves?
RP: Um...put out alot of records, play a lot of shows- We'd like to do a complete tour next summer as well as out-of-town shows throughout the year. And get drunk and have fun doing it all ourselves.
Ly: If you could make a "fall of the world" tour which bands would you like to see on it?
RP: What, you mean the band plays and falls off the world after? Um.. geez- too many! Let's start with Green Day, Rancid, Pennywise, Offspring, NoFX, NIN, MxPx and every single new-school ska/punk Operation Ivy wannabe band there is. And add Prodigy and all that raver shit too. They deserve to die.
Ly: How do you feel about your new found fame...?...you now about all the record deals you have now?
RP: Look-Out Green Day! Here comes the Posers!! Ha Ha
