Hi! So whom am I talking to? Can you introduce the members that make up the Fisticuffs? and their musical talents? Adam - bass, Mike - vocals\guitar, Ryan - drums, Chris - guitar\vocals. Joe our horn player has left us for college. Who is the chick magnet in the group? I bet he sleeps with a beautiful woman every night. Ryan: Adam Mike: Ryan Chris: Ryan Adam: Mike, for obvious Nashville reasons How did the name, The Fisticuffs come about? Is there a story or meaning behind that name? Are you aware that another punk band has the same name? Adam: I always thought it would be a good name for a ska band, so when we started, I suggested it and it just stuck. Ryan: I had no idea. Chris: I knew there was but i'm not concerned about it there are so many bands, if we kept changing our name no one would know who we were, we'd just be that band. or the band formally known as the Fisticuffs. Mike: Yeah don't care. Adam: If they've got a problem with it they can take it up with O'rear (Ryan). |
If you were stranded on an island with a record of your choice. What would it be? Ryan: Bad Religon - Generator Chris: Jawbraker - 24hr revenge therapy Mike: Misfits - Walk among us Adam: Minor Threat - Complete discography If you were stranded on that same island for the second time. Which supermodel would you choose right by your side? Ryan: That girl from "fifth element" Chris: Claudia Shiffer ß sorry Mike: Roseanne Adam: That Victoria Secret one What do you guys do for fun? Skate? Ryan: I skate, play drums, and you don't want to know what else Chris: I skate, drink, hang out with the girlfriend (who's part Canadian by the way) Mike: Listen to music, play music, send pictures of myself wankin it over the internet Adam: Play in the Fisticuffs How important are your lyrics to you? Ryan: Not important, I can never hear them Chris: Very, I've always been fasinated by how lyrics in songs can change people's moods and even their opinion sometimes Mike: Very, Lyrics make the songs Adam: I don't care I don't write them.
Whats your favorite fast food restaurant? Favorite wrestler? Favorite quote? Ryan: Taco Bell Chris: Taco Bell Mike: Taco Bell Adam: Backyard burgers, cause they got veggie burgers Ryan: Pat Cox Chris: The Undertaker Mike: Fuck wrestling Adam: Andy Kaufman Chris: "Eh?" Mike: "I always did want to cornhole me a blind bitch" - Toxic Avenger Adam: "Marijunna?!, I used to suck dick for crack!" - Bob Saget, Half Baked What kind of people show up at your shows? Do you get alot of alterna-teens/smelly hippies/head bangers/ skins/ .... What about people with Marilyn Manson or Wu Tang Clan shirts? Chris: You know your average 15 yr old punk kids Mike: I don't think people show up for our shows, if they do they're just there to make an apperance. you know trying to be cool. Adam: The young ones Marilyn Manson. Do you like any of his performances? You know, alot of 'cool' kids think he is the shit!! Personally, I hate his shit. What do you think? Ryan: They suck Chris: I think he's really funny cause he's really fake but he knows whatever he does some 12 yr old's gonna imitate him. he actually came into this record store I was working at and some christian lady threw a fit (and several cd's) I think it's funny that anyone can have that kind of impact. Mike: He caught on to a trendy gimmick, people are buying something that he didn't even make up Adam: Not a big fan
Sorry I have to bring this up, but you know it was gonna come sooner or later. What is your stand on 'selling out'? Ryan: I would do it in a second Chris: I've always felt like music is music, if you've got something to say why confine it to the people who already know about corrupt cops and the gov't. why not tell the masses and not just the punx. one of my favorite bands, Less Than Jake, new record is on capitol records, instead of disregarding it as another corporate punk deal I actually listened to the record and it fuckin kicks ass! I think today people are more concerned with being punker than thou and they've forgotten about the music. Mike: There are plenty of bands that have gotten popular w/out MTV and major labels. it shouldn't be about the money.once you do that you forget about what you're playing and wind up conforming to what's selling. as long as you stay true to yourself. Adam: As long as the money's good :-)~ |
Are you guys currently on tour? Would you ever consider coming to Canada and maybe put on a show here, in Edmonton? Ryan: Yeah I'd like to Chris: I'd like to if we ever got the money we're proably the poorest band you've ever interviewed Mike: Sure, I've never been it sounds cool and if I ever get drafted I will be a full blown Canadian Adam: Sure as long as there's lots of Molson, I'm a big fan of Canada I even wear a hat with a maple leaf on it. I know you're getting tired of my lame ass questions, so one final question before you kick my ass.
