33 FOREST HILL Route History

November 1st, 1926

New route operated by the Toronto Transportation Commission for Forest Hill Village. One bus runs from Eglinton Avenue & Spadina Road via south on Spadina, southeast on Forest Hill Road, south on Russell Hill Road, southeast on Hillholm Road, south on Dunvegan Road and west on Heath Street to Spadina. The other bus also starts from Eglinton & Spadina, but then runs south on Spadina to St. Clair Avenue, looping clockwise via west on St. Clair, north on Walmer Ropad and east on Heath to Spadina.

February 20th, 1927

Buses now loop at the northern terminus via northwest on Forest Hill, east on Eglinton and south on Spadina.

November 15th, 1928

Use of scholars tickets authorized.

August 15th, 1932

Route changed from a "Y" to "U" configuration. Starting from a clockwise loop via St. Clair, Walmer and Heath, buses run north on Spadina, west on Elderwood Drive, north on Rosemary Avenue, north and west on Rosemary Lane, north on Bathurst Street, east on Eglinton, south on Spadina, southeast on Forest Hill, south on Russell Hill, southeast on Hillholm and south on Dunvegan, looping clockwise via west on St. Clair, north on Warren Road and east on Lonsdale Road.

December 9th, 1935

Extended during Monday to Saturday rush hours via west on Eglinton, north on Roseberry (now Allen Road), east on Wembly Road, south on Old Park Road and east on Eglinton to the regular route.

October 15th, 1936

Owing to inauguration of the new EGLINTON WEST route, the FOREST HILL bus is cut back to run from a clockwise loop via St. Clair, Walmer and Heath, then run north on Spadina, west on Elderwood Drive, north on Vesta Drive, east on Eglinton, south on Spadina, southeast on Forest Hill, south on Russell Hill, southeast on Hillholm and south on Dunvegan, looping clockwise via west on St. Clair, north on Warren and east on Lonsdale. Transfers issued and accepted to and from the EGLINTON WEST route (suburban section).

December 1st, 1938

Transfers granted to and from the new BATHURST service via the EGLINTON WEST bus.

April 17th, 1947

Standard transfer ticket replaces the universal one.

October 3rd, 1951

St. Clair/Walmer/Heath looping replaced by an extension east on Lonsdale to Lawton Loop (at Yonge Street).

General rerouting coincident with the opening of the new Yonge subway. From Rosedale station via north on Yonge, west on Lawton, west on Lonsdale to Spadina, north to Eglinton, west to Vesta, south to Elderwood, east on Spadina & return to Rosedale Station.

FOREST HILL buses cut back to St. Clair Station. No service provided on Yonge south to Rosedale Station.
