September 6th, 1925

New route from Bloor Street via north on Runnymede Road and west on Annette Street to Jane Street, wyeing at both ends, replacing the 1 HIGH PARK-ANNETTE bus.

November 29th, 1925

Rerouted to run from a wye at Runnymede & Bloor via north on Runnymede and east on Annette, looping clockwise via north on High Park Avenue, east on Dundas Street, south on Keele Street and west on Annette.

September 14th, 1929

Wye at Bloor replaced by a loop at the south end via Bloor, Beresford and Colbeck.

September 28th, 1930

Dundas loop now runs via Mavety, Dundas, Keele and Annette.

December 21st, 1930

Bloor loop via Beresford and Colbeck discontinued. Buses now turned at Runnymede & Bloor.

A Runnymede transfer from the World War II years. Toronto Transportation Commission transfers were colour-coded, with Runnymede being a dull greyish-purple.

October 6th, 1947

Service rerouted due to the new ANNETTE trolley coach commencing service. From Bloor via north on Runnymede, east on St. Clair Avenue and north on Weston Road to Keele Loop.

General rerouting performed by the new Toronto Transit Commission. Service extended south of Bloor via Runnymede, Morningside and Windemere to Lakeshore Boulevard (Runnymede Loop).

Service note: Operated by Parkdale Garage which provides seven buses on a 6:00 minute headway during rush hours, and four buses on a 10:00 minute headway at all other times.

South end changed to loop via The Queensway, Southport and east on Windemere Place to Windemere.

January 23rd, 1966

Operation transferred to the new Queensway Garage.

February 26th, 1967

Operation transferred once more, this time to the newly re-opened Lansdowne bus garage.

May 11th, 1968

Service south of Bloor now provided by the new 78 RUNNYMEDE SOUTH bus route. All 71 RUNNYMEDE buses now terminate at Runnymede Station.

February 3rd, 1974

Coincident with the inauguration of new 48 HUMBER BOULEVARD bus, all 71A buses loop via west on Lambton, north on Guestville, east on Eglinton, south on Weston Road and west on York to Rockcliffe.

November 22nd, 1980

At the request of Etobicoke Council and coincident with the extension of the Bloor-danforth subway to Kipling, 71 RUNNYMEDE and 78 RUNNYMEDE SOUTH routes to merged for a continuous, transfer-free ride from Eglinton to The Queensway. All 71 and 71A buses now travel south of Bloor to the Queensway via the former 78 routing.
