BEACH (SPECIAL) Bus Route History

BEACH SPECIAL

June 30th, 1956

New summer service (operating only on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays) from Danforth & Woodbine Avenues via south on Woodbine, looping coulterclockwise via east on Queen, south on Kippendavie, east on Kew Gardens, north on Kenilworth and west on Queen to Woodbine. One bus operated by Russell Division provides a 20 minute service. Double-punched SHERBOURNE transfers used.

September 3rd, 1956

Last day of operation for the season.

July 13th, 1957

Summer service same as previous year, except that route now loops via west on Queen, south on Coxwell and east on Keating Extension to Woodbine. Operation continues to be from Russell Division.

August 18th, 1957

Last day of operation for the season.

BEACHES' SPECIAL

June 30th, 1963

New summer bus route looping at the north end via Strathmore, Cedarvale and Milverton, south on Woodbine to Queen, west to Eastern to Coxwell, south to Lakeshore, east on Lakeshore through Beach Parking Area and north on Woodbine. 15 minute service operated by Danforth Division. (For the first few days loop was via Queen, Kippendavie, Kew Beach west to Woodbine) Zone 1 fares and transfers provided.

September 2nd, 1963

Last day of operation for the season.

June 28th, 1964

Same service and routing as previous year.

September 7th, 1964

Last day of operation for the season.

June 27th, 1965

Same service and routing as previous year.

September 5th, 1965

Route replaced by an extension of the 91 WOODBINE bus, operating south from Danforth via Woodbine to Queen, looping via Queen, Rainsford & Columbine.
