Dragons

In Xanth, while humans domonate the civilized world, dragons reign the wilderness. Dragons come in many sizes, shapes, and colors. Some can fly, while others are land bound, and some just stick to the water. Diffrent dragons can breath diffrent things, usually realting to where they live. They may breath fire, water, ice, smoke, or steam. Many people have the impression fire is the most dangerous. This is not always true. Ice may freeze you to death, while smoke may blind you untill it's too late. Any dragon of any size is dangerous. Most dragons cannot be defeated unless strong magic is involved, or somone get's very lucky.
