Where I Work

the madhouse
insane asylum
loony bin
funny farm
laughing academy
bughouse
mental institution
lunatic asylum
nut house
rubber room
bedlam
sanitarium
snakepit
the psychiatric hospital
call it what you will
i am employed there.
i work with madness
insanity, psychosis, the damned
and i cannot function without it.
on weekends off
idleness churns
stirring darkness within
there is no escape
only in the ending of the weekend
and monday morning’s bitterness
can composure be regained
and darkness subside
only then can order be restored.
i am damned to repeat this
until the gods come for me.
