I Fear the Sea
I fear the sea,
Leagues of green,
Waves like arms
That rip and twist me
Over land
And all over me,
I fear the sea.
I fear the sand,
Meager grains
That give with ease
To a raking hand.
But kick them up
They decide to fly,
A splash of glass,
I fear the sand.
I fear the pier,
Columns of tree
Cast shadowy spears
On the wave under me.
My board and I
We thread the beams
But if I don't steer
My bones and they will meet.
I fear the pier.
I fear the sea
And the power of she,
I fear the sea
Who calls to me,
I fear the sea,
If I dive in
Then I'll go deep.
