TimMaster's List
of "cool" and "awesome" bands and artists
- Karate
My current all-time favorite. Karate is incredible. These guys know how to
put emotion into a guitar song. Not too heavy; not too mellow.
Imagine if Fugazi could make you want to cry or if the Cure could make you
shout "Rock and roll!"

- Modest Mouse
My latest discovery... and oh what a discovery it is!!! To try to describe their music would be a
futile effort. You simply MUST hear them for yourselves. (Or see them live
if you have a chance!)

- The Cure
No explanation necessary. I don't care what kind of music you like...The Cure
does it the best.

- Spookey Ruben
If you're a relatively normal person, you've probably never heard of Spookey. Well, now
I'm telling you. Spookey does things to pop songs that defy the concept
of pop. You might think he's cheesy at first, but after a few listens you'll
realize that the songs are the catchiest, most well-written and well-thought-out
songs since the Beatles, or you'll realize that.... HE IS CHEESY AND I
LOVE IT!!

- Plug
If you like house music you know what "Drum n Bass" music is (aka "Jungle").
If you don't know what Drum n Bass is, imagine the most skilled and tweaked-out
jazz drummer ever, improvising a drum solo at high speed for an entire song.
You don't have to love "techno" to love this. Check it out... you'll be
surprised.
Plug's album - Drum n Bass for Papa
- NOFX
If you like punk rock, you might already like these guys. If you love
punk rock, you might hate these guys. They've been around a long time and
they've made it big. But not in an MTV way like Green Day. These guys are
tight, fast, hard, fun, quirky, and they don't seem to give a @&%#!
**** Very good

- Skinny Puppy
If you don't like dark music, stay far away. If you absolutely cannot deal
with synths or samplers, steer clear. If you're even so much as curious to
hear a "Hellraiser" movie on CD, you best be listening to this group. They
are well beyond amazing.
**** A really good Skinny Puppy site (Convulsion) ****
- µ-ziq
The latest album is Drum n Bass like Plug, but a very different style.
While Plug will take a minimalist approach to drums and background music,
µ-ziq (pronounced mu-sic) throws every drum sound ever invented at you at
once, and backs it up with Nintendo music.

- June of '44
I can't wait until April 18th, I'm going to see them at Bottom of the Hill in
San Francisco. How can I describe them? Guitars. Bass. Drums. Soft...
now hard... Shouting. Speaking. Is he singing? Naaah. Moving rock songs about the ocean.

Ex-members of Skinny Puppy, Zoviet France, and Psychic TV. Vocals are
rare, and beats are prominent. This is very close to being a dark form of
techno, but much more amorphous and much less repetitious. Try it if you think
you can handle it.

- Buzzing Metal Insect
I guarantee you've never heard of Buzzing Metal Insect, but they will
take over the world someday.
Buzzing Metal Insect wants your head.
Buzzing Metal Insect wants you dead.
