Back to myNotice that the Deitz with 50mm lens is wider than the 17mm lens due to the fish-eye effect. There is very slight corner vignetting visible in the 4x6 machine print.

The Deitz with 40mm gives the most pleasing effect in my opinion. This shot is much wider than the 50 and I like the look of the clipped circular fisheye. The additional scene (vs the 50mm photo) is not very sharp since the lens isn't designed for this but I do like the effect. The middle 2/3 of the photo appears quite sharp (for an add-on lens).
The 28mm shot does give the circular fisheye effect though no more scene is included than with the 40mm. The cropping may be from the 58->49mm stepdown ring, or just the 28mm lens "seeing" the edge of the Deitz adapter. A fixed 28 or 35mm lens with 49mm filter thread may work better.
