Entries for 2000
May, 2001
Okay, so it's almost been a year since I've updated this. You know
how life gets! I'll try to recap the past months' highlights very
quickly here: I spent the holidays in Connecticut with Jon and his family.
We also became a couple during that time. Since then I have been
just hanging out and my main focus has been school. (yeah, I know what
you're thinking!) It has been the waiting game for the past months
because I talked my parents into coming to England with me in June 2001.
Now in May, my birthday went fine. Just had dinner, got together
with friends, and even worked part of the day! The lifeguarding season
has begun. In July Jon will come to visit again as well so there
is much fun ahead for the summer. Once I return from my second journey
you can see what I was up to this time! Sorry about the lack of writing
once again!
August/September, 2000
August and September are considered "down months" for me because not a
lot has happened. Throughout August I continued to work for Parks
and Rec Lifeguarding and also returned to my job at the country club.
College started on August 21st and it is definitely interesting!
I have Math, Psychology, Computer Science, English 1A, and Guidence.
In some ways it seems like an advanced High School but in many other ways
that is truly not the case. There is lots of work ahead! September
is spent searching for a year-round job. I was shunned at Hutchins
(an indoor pool) and now I will pursue other work and see how it turns
out. The most exciting thing that has happened in these two months
is that I got talking to Jon about wanting to take a trip for New Year's.
I wanted to return to England but he persuaded me to come visit at his
sister's house in Connecticut. So now I have another exciting trip
to look forward to at the end of the year (along with returning to England
next June...very likely!). I can't wait! In the meantime, it's
all about work, work, work!
July, 2000
After returning home on the 27th June I did not want to do anything!
I didn't want to go home basically after having such a good time.
My flight was delayed two hours so I was awake for 24 hours straight basically.
Once I got home it was soon time to start working and earning money again.
I've been working all month for the Parks and Rec lifeguarding at the pool.
4th of July was ok but spent working all day without really seeing many
people I knew. :( I also did my final year of summer swim.
I did not care about my times or the competativeness because basically,
I see myself as being retired! ;) Well that's basic July for you...work,
work, work, swim, swim, swim...how depressing after spending June the way
I did! Well worth it though. I start college next month so
we'll see how life is!
June, 2000
June, the best month ever! On the 1st, it was Jon's Birthday.
We celebrated by going to Red Lobster where he wolfed the feast down and
later had cake and opened presents. On the 2nd, it was finally my
graduation. It was almost strange graduating but I was glad to move
on. We went to an all night party at the waterslides where we ended
up freezing! On the 6th, it was time for Jon and I to leave for England!
We had a 10 hour Virgin flight and it was pretty good. I suffered
little jet lag. To sum it up, I spent the next three weeks over there
having the time of my life. I got to see the southwest and spend
time with Jon, go on Police patrol, visit Alton Towers and Cadbury World,
take the train up to Scotland, see Edinburgh, watch Euro 2000...it's endless
really! Be sure to visit the website about my trip!
April/May, 2000
First off, I apologize ro not keeping up with this as much as I'd like
to have! Writing this a couple months after, all I can say is that
April and May were busy months involving swimming and theatre. We
put on the One-Acts and I played the roll of the "Magic Bum" in the Student-written
play "The Claws of Time". Swimming ended in the middle of April and
my time was freed up a little more. May was the final month of school
and was spent mainly preparing for my big trip and cruising toward the
end of school. My birthday was on the 26th May and I had a small
get-together at Naughty Nicks. I received some nice gifts!
On the 31st of May, Jon flew in from Australia. He was finally here
and ready to see my graduation. The excitement was beginning!
March, 2000
Whoa boy, unlike February, March is full of action and activity!
Swimming began and it is hard work! The weeks go by in a daze as
I try to juggle everything once again in this busy schedule! Spring
"break" came but 4 hours of swimming plus work, packing, Senior Project,
and scholarships kept me pretty busy and worn out! But a 5 day cruise
to Mexico on the Carnival Holiday is a great replenisher! That's
where I leave you now..the play is coming up when I get back!
February, 2000

Hmm...what did I do in February? Well we went to Lenaea, the
theater festival to perform our play and I did a duet. We didn't
win any awards but it was still a fun day! Dryland for swimming began
and I started to get in shape. Juggling that and work pretty much
kept me busy in February...not many exciting stories to tell!
January, 2000

January came to a roaring start with the Millenium celebration!
I went to a party for a while then headed to my friend's house for the
magical moment. The celebrations around the world were great to watch.
The whole Y2K think did turn out to be a hoax, of course and I was not
at all surprised, but a little disappointed! We could've missed school
for a few more days you know! ;) The first few weeks of January are
all focused on the play. We decided to make it English afterall and
I think I carried the accent pretty well. In the end, we won best
play. Performances were on the 20th and 21st of January. On
the 22nd to 25th, Tom and Jane visited us from England and it was a great
time. They accidentally arrived "a day early" but it was needed!
I am looking forward to seeing them again in June.
