They first met: She was running away from Katarina Von Leuschner's betrothal to Lawrence Alamain & he disgusied himself as James so she would fall in love with him
Their relationsip began when: off screen around 1983. It picked up when Carly came to Salem in 1990 and Jennifer disgusied herself as Katarina to get Carly out of the betrothal. Lawrence married Jennifer as Katarina, but Carly was never out of his heart.
Nickname: he called her Katarina, which is the name she was born with. She called him James because that's who he said he was years earlier.

Milestones: Their feelings resurfaced during One Stormy Night when Lawrence was wounded and Carly found him at a cabin. Those feelings intensified during Bo's kidnapping when Lawrence realized he still loved her. Carly returned his love in 1993 after he resuced her from being buried alive and she lost her memory.
