General Moves

ATTACK REVERSAL- Certain characters (Jin, Nina, King, Paul) have the ability to reverse attacks. Attack Reversals were established in TEKKEN 2, and are now a mainstay. Attack Reversals are done by pressing b+RP+RK or b+LP+LK. To make things fair, TEKKEN 3 introduced ARR or attack reversal reversals. These are done by pressing F+RP+RK if the reversed attack was RP or RK or F+LP+LK if the reversed attack was LP or LK. King has the only unreversible attack reversal, though he can only reverse kicks. Only Nina and Anna can reverse King's Lariet and his other unblockables. Only Jin, Nina, Anna can reverse Yoshimitsu's sword attacks.

UNBLOCKABLES- Use these every now and then to surprise your opponent. Don't get predictable, since you are wide open every time you use unblockable attacks. Some characters have the ability to cancel their unblockable animation, allowing them to smack opponents who have run up to combo them.

MID AND LOW PARRIES- Done by d+RP+RK or d+LP+LK and b+RP+RK or b+LP+LK respectively. Some characters (Law, Xiaoyu, etc.) have the mid parry, which doesn't really give enough time to be a solid advantage. The low parry is excellent, since it allows enough time to pop-up the stumbling opponent.

FRONT THROW- RP+RK or LP+LK. Counter by pressing LP if LP+LK or RP if RP+RK.

SIDE THROW- SS _ RP+RK or LP+LK. Counter by pressing LP if on left side or RP if on right side.

CHAIN THROW- Both King and Nina have a series of bone-snapping chain throws. The drawback is that they are easy to break. The best strategy is vary the throw pattern, and also use throws that require double button breaks.

BACK THROW- Press RP+RK or LP+LK. King is the only one with multiple back throws. This throw is unblockable and takes off the most damage.

SIDE STEP- New to the TEKKEN series, tapping the joystick UP or DOWN twice allows the player to move in the "Z" plane. Use this to avoid moves and set up an easy side throw.

TACKLE- Run in from range 2 to lunge forward into a tackle. Tackles hit mid and result in a chain-style throw. Various escapes are possible, depending on the attack employed during the tackle.

CROUCH DASH- The crouch dash is performed by moving the joystick f,d*,DF. This particular dash starts high, goes low, and stays low. Only Jin, Heihachi, Bryan, Paul, Hwoarang, and King have crouch dashs. It's best to use this move to duck under high attacks and counter.

BACK FLIPS- Performed by rolling the joystick from Up-back to Back. Not all characters have this move, those who do are Nina, Yoshimitsu, Ling, and Eddy Gordo.

ROLLING DASH- The Rolling Dash starts standing, then moves into a crouch for a second, then finishes standing. The motion is d,df,F. The characters who can do this move are Heihachi, Bryan, Paul Phoenix, and Nina Williams.

BACKWARDS ROLLING DASH- With this move, the character will "sway" backwards for a brief moment. It starts standing, then crouch, then back to standing. The motion is d,db,B. The characters who can do this move are Heihachi, Bryan, Paul Phoenix, and Nina Williams.

SUPER CHARGER- New to the world of TEKKEN, the super charger allows the character to charge up their energy by pressing LP+LK+RP+RK. The animation looks similar to the unblockable charge, but afterwards the characters hands and feet will glow for about four seconds. During this time, all attacks will do block damage, and all hits will count as a counterhit.
