Q: Who is Hanson?
A: Hanson is a band consisiting of three brothers, Isaac, Taylor, and Zachary. They're from Tulsa Oklahoma and their first major-label CD is called Middle of Nowhere
Q: Does Hanson write their own songs?
A: Yes---they either wrote or co-wrote all the songs on the Middle of Nowhere
Q: When was the single "MMMBop" released?
A: March 24, 1997. It debuted at No. 49 on the Radio and Records Chart on March 31. Six weeks later, it hit the number one spot on the Billboard charts and stayed there for three weeks running.
Q: What are their birthdays? Is Taylor thirteen or fourteen?
A: Isaac-November 17th, 1980, that would make him 17, his sign is Scorpio Taylor-March 14th,1983, which makes him a 15 year old Pisces Zac-October 22nd, 1985, Zac's a zany 12 year old Libra
Q: Did Hanson use stunt doubles in the Rollerblading sequence on "MMMBop"?
A: No! It was Hanson. "The skating wipeout was real. Definitely all real," admits Zac. (Director Tamra Davis confides, " Zac definitely falls down a lot!")
Q: Why does the car Taylor drives in the "MMMBop" video look so familiar?
A: That's probably because it's the same car that Sandra Bullock drives in "Speed 2"
Q: Does Hanson have a special name for their fans?
A: Yes. They nicknamed their fan club the "Scream Squad." Actually their amazed at all the attention that they cause. "We do have groupies," says Ike. "It's weird," adds Tay, "We kinda laugh at it, but it's cool to have people respond to you."
Q: Who sings lead on "Lucy"? Some say Zac and some say Taylor?!
A: Zac, and what a great job he does!
Q: Is Zac Hanson the youngest artist to ever have a number one hit on Billboard's Hot 100 pop chart?
A: Zac just missed that distinction by an mmmbop! He was eleven years and six months old when "MMMBop" went to number one. Michael Jackson was eleven years and five months when "I Want You Back" hit the top spot.
Q: Why is the European version of "MMMBop" different from the United States version?
A: Because of the car sequence. "We were towing the car, they're not actually driving it," says director Tamra Davis. "That's why we had so much fun with them jumping over the seat and throwing their hands up into the air....In Europe we had to edit that stuff out. They were like, 'We can't show kids driving recklessly."
Q: Is there another group that also goes by the name Hanson?
A: The Canadian group, NoMeansNo, recently did a side project album, Sudden Death under the name The Hanson Brothers. The punk-music trio who have been together since 1979, took the name in honor of the hockey-playing Hanson brothers from the 1977 Paul Newman movie Slapshot
Q: Is it true that Ike, Tay, and Zac wear earplugs when they're onstage?
A: You bet! According to Zac, "We'd go deaf from all the fan's screaming if we didn't!" ...hehe....us crazy fans are gonna make their ears bleed...
Q: What was Zac's first reaction when he saw "MMMBop" on MTV?
A: I said," Look at that cute girl--! NO wait----that's ME!" he laughs. (ZAC!! Why'd you say that? Anti-Hanson's criticize you enough! =)
Q: How does Hanson describe the songs on the "Middle of Nowhere"?
A: Isaac says, "There's quite a lot of variety on to the songs---one makes you want to dance, it's reallly up and makes you feel good. The other ones are really intense. They make you go," Wow! What's this about?" and the other ones are really mellow. We wrote every one....and every one has a meaning for us."
