Chapter Seventeen

Isaac groaned and sat back in the Airport Taxi as it drove them back home. Turns out that, the plane ride back home to Tulsa, hadn't been as great as the one to Paris. Zac had gone against Taylor's warnings, and had finished up two boxes of Swiss chocolate the night before in the hotel room. The next morning, on the plane, he had puked it all up, and had spent the rest of the flight whining and complaining. Now, he was in the other taxi along with his mom, dad, and Mackie, while Jessie, Avie, Taylor, and Isaac were squished into a yellow taxi with an idiot driver. "Someday, I'm gonna make it to New York! I'm gonna drive the taxi's ova there, and make a fortune!" he said through the rear view mirror. Taylor had fallen asleep in the backseat and was now snoring lightly. Isaac saw his two sisters snuggled up against him while he painstakingly sat up front listening to the driver's lifetime dreams and goals. He had introduced himself, as 'Billybob,' (Sound familiar readers? Hehe) and was blabbing out some crap about Tulsa being a crummy city and New York being the city where everything was happening. "You ever been to New York, son?" Billybob asked Ike. Isaac resisted telling the guy to shut the hell up and answered, "Yeah, once." Billybob looked at Isaac and asked, "What for? The chicks?" Isaac scrunched up his face. Obviously the guy had never been to Europe where the real chicks were, "No, to record an album." Billybob raised an eyebrow, "Oh! Of course, a lot of people go there to do that too." Isaac looked at the guy weirdly and said, "Hey, pal, as much as I'd like to carry out this way cool conversation with you, I'd also like to get some sleep. So, ya think we could talk later?" Billybob pierced his lips and whispered softly, "Yeah, okay, buddy, you do that. You sleep and I'll talk very, very softly, you won't even know I'm here." Isaac rolled his eyes and snuggled up against the window. He was so tired from the trip, and wanted to just sleep, sleep, sleep.

Janelle was kicking back on the living room couch as her younger brother played a game of 'Mortal Combat' with Brenden. She was flipping through an issue of 'Seventeen' while she watched Ethan kick Brenden's butt. She giggled, "Hey Brenden, admit it, you suck." Brenden furrowed his eyebrows and replied, "Hey, I haven't played this for 3 years now, gimme a break." "I'm gonna cream ya!" Ethan shouted. Janelle set her magazine down and sat down next to her brothers, "Hey Brenden, lemme try." He looked at Janelle, "The game's yours, careful though, he's hecka good though." Janelle winked at Ethan, "Watch it bro, get ready to die." Ethan smiled as they started flipping and high kicking through the game. Just then Casey walked in carrying a 'Big Bopper' magazine. She sat down next to Brenden, "Hey Brenden, whatcha doin'?" Brenden motioned towards Ethan and Janelle giggling in front of the TV screen, "Watching Ethan kick Janelle's butt." He looked at Casey, "What 'bout you?" Casey lifted up her magazine, "Reading a Hanson article." Brenden took the magazine from her and looked at it, "Aww man, hey Janelle, these are the mags that you used to read before!" "Yeah, I know, scary thought ain't it?" Janelle called from in front of the TV. Casey grabbed her magazine from Brenden, "I like reading these, they're cool!" "Please, just tell me what isn't 'cool' to her," Ethan muttered under his breath. Janelle giggled and nudged her brother in the shoulder, "Hey, remember Mom said to be nice." Just then Ethan jumped up, "Yeah! Dead to the end!" Janelle stood up and grinned, "Gotta admit it bro, you're good. Hey, heard Zac was pretty good too, maybe you guys go against each other sometime." Casey started squealing from her side of the couch, "Oh Zaccy! He's good at everything! He'll definitely win ya Ethan." Ethan rolled his eyes and muttered to his sister, "I'm outta here before I puke in her face."

Janelle smiled as Ethan walked into the kitchen. She walked over to the couch and flopped down next to her cousin, "Can I see?" she asked. "Yeah, sure," Casey replied. She handed the magazine over to Janelle and she started flipping through. She saw at least 5 pictures of Isaac, Taylor, and Zac on the Table of Contents and saw some more pics of Leonardo DiCaprio. She handed the magazine back to Casey, "When I used to read these, Jonathan Taylor Thomas was always on the cover." Casey nodded her head firmly, "No way, now it's Hanson who're on the front cover." Janelle grinned at Brenden who was smiling over his History book. She looked back at her cousin, "Well, hey, I heard that they're getting back today, maybe we can go on over there tomorrow or something." Casey jumped up from the sofa, "No no! Let's go now!" She started pulling Janelle off the couch, "No, wait Casey. I think they might be tired from their trip, so let's give them a day or so before we go and see 'em." Brenden muttered from his little corner on the couch, "You mean go and annoy them." Janelle gave her brother a look and turned back to Casey, "If you want, maybe we can call them later after dinner." Casey gave Janelle a huge smile and hugged her, "Thanks Jannie." Janelle gave her a weak smile and pulled Casey's arms off her, while Brenden sat smirking on the couch.

"Taylor! Phone! I think it's Janelle!" Mr. Hanson called from downstairs. Taylor stood by the stairs, "Kay dad, I'll get it up here." He ran into his room and picked up the phone as he heard his dad hang up from downstairs. "Hey Jan! Whattup with you?" Taylor greeted. "Hey Tay, nothing much, except my little cousin's here visiting from Chicago$B)(JI'll talk about that later." He heard her whisper to someone on the other end, "Hold on! Wait! You'll get to talk to him, just hold on a sec will ya Casey?" Taylor raised an eyebrow, "Special guest huh?" Janelle sighed into the phone, "Yeah, something like that, anyway, how was the trip?" Taylor lay down onto his pillow, "Man, it was something else. Zac sprained his leg from roller-blading in the lobby, he's okay now, he can walk fine now, and he ended up puking on the plane, and just the usual Zac accidents." Janelle laughed on the other end, and Taylor smiled. It was so nice to hear her laugh again, he spoke up, "So what was it you were going to tell me about your cousin?" Janelle lowered her voice, "My little cousin, Casey, is visiting us from Chicago, and she's a major fan of you guys$B)(Jand she's totally gaga eyed over Zac$B)(J she droned on. Taylor laughed, "Oh well, hey, I'm sure Zac would love to meet her." "Uh, no, I'm not so sure about that," he heard her whisper something on the other end again, "Anyway, I swear she could almost pass as Stephie Junior or something." Taylor smiled, "Don't worry, I'm sure Zac would love to meet her." "Well, hey, she's been bugging me all afternoon, she wants to talk to him over the phone, y'know, to get all the craziness outta her system." Taylor laughed, "Yeah, sure lemme go get him, hold on."

Taylor set down the phone and went downstairs to get his brother who was sitting in front of the TV watching 'The Simpsons' with his head propped up against a couple of pillows. "Hey Zac, Janelle's little cousin's visiting from Chicago, and she wants to talk to ya." Zac didn't lift his eyes from the TV screen, "Aww c'mon Tay, I'm watching 'the Simpsons' right now$B)(J Taylor watched as Homer stuffed his face with marshmallows, "C'mon Zac, just for a second. This may be your one and only fan, y'know." Zac extended his hand out for Tay to help him up, "Shut up Tay, I have just as many fans as you do." Taylor smiled, "C'mon, I was just playing." They both trudged back up the stairs and into their room. Zac picked up the receiver, "Hello?" He heard heavy breathing and giggling on the other end, "Hello? Is this Zac Hanson?" Zac sat down, "Yeah, this is Zac Hanson." He heard a giggle then, "Are you sure? Zachary Hanson?" Zac rolled his eyes, "Yeah, Zachary Walker Hanson, what's up?" He heard the girl giggle then say, "You are so funny! Anyway, I'm Cassandra Monroe, Janelle's cousin, and I just can't believe that I'm actually talking to the Zac Hanson!" Zac cringed, "Well, there's only one Zac Hanson, so uh, anyway, heard you're visiting from Chicago?" "Yeah, I'm gonna be here for one whole month! Isn't that great?" Zac looked over at Taylor and tried to kick him with his one mobile foot. Taylor ran to the other side of the room laughing as Zac glared at him and said into the receiver, "Yeah, sure that's great Cassandra." He heard the Simpson's theme on TV downstairs and said, "Hey, I hafta go now, I, uh, my mom needs me to help fix dinner, I'll talk to ya later." Casey spoke into the phone with a confused voice, "But Zaccy, it's already 9 o'clock, haven't you already eaten dinner?" Zac looked at the clock next to his brother's bed, "Oh yeah, well, uh, our family eats dinner kinda later than other families," he stood up and said," Well, gotta jet, talk to ya later, bye." He quickly hung up and faced his older brother, "Man, that was freaky." Taylor just sat on the carpet laughing as their mother walked in, "Zac who was that?" Zac glared at his older brother and answered his mom, "Just some idiot fan." Mrs. Hanson gave her sons a suspicious look and said, "Zac you better get ready for bed now, it's getting late." Zac started whining, "But mom! It's only 9 o'clock!" Mrs. Hanson walked in and got Zac by the arm, "Exactly, more the reason to get into bed, now scoot." Zac grumbled as he trudged to the bathroom with his one good foot.

Janelle sat on her bed as she watched Casey hang up the phone. "Ah! It really was Zac Hanson! This is like, so way cool!" Casey cried. Janelle rolled her eyes," Yeah, well, glad you had fun talking to him." Casey started heading over to the bathroom to get ready for bed, "This is gonna be the coolest vacation ever!" Janelle muttered to herself as her cousin walked out, "This is gonna be the suckiest vacation ever."
