"Let ‘em GOOOO!"

K’s exclamation echoed in her head still. The GIB boss had given an order she wasn’t sure she would’ve followed.

‘G sighed and stood, paced her room waiting for dawn. It would be a lot different in her dimension. If you didn’t do what you were told, you were removed, killed. You did what the higher-up’s said. Period. But here, in this time and place, such loyalty and mindless obedience weren’t demanded. She was free to state an opinion. Encouraged to do so. She was heard and considered here; even respected.

The GIB and the people in it she considered family. The only family she’d known. But she would not fire on them to save the world.

K’s order to do so, if the Orin did get ahold of one of us, was one she could not follow. She’d think of another way. Even if it meant her own life, she would not kill one of her family.

It would have been easier in her old dimension. She didn’t care about anyone there. Not like she did here…

Her computer beeped and she went to check. Message. Agent HOSHI had been checked out at medical. All clear. ‘G forced herself to sit. Worrying about this would do no good. But if she did have to make a choice, she couldn’t have time to think on the spot.

But she already had her decision.

If the Orin had captured or hurt or tried to use the others as a shield, she wouldn’t have fired her Korlian Deathray. LD, K, even the human HOSHI. ‘G smiled to herself. HOSHI was no different than any of the others in her mind. ‘G wouldn’t have sacrificed any of their lives.

Which made this case a real toughie. K had a bone to pick with the Orin, and it (or its master) held a vendetta against the GIB. With having to join consoling talks with MIB over the alien races yelling that they were victimized because of MIB/GIB inadequacies, and the usual GIB work, K’s boiling point’s gonna go with this thing. She had to protect the boss from herself, or make plans to mourn her passing…
