Summersault '98

First of all, i'd like to say that i personally think Summersault(i was at the one in Barrie), was AMAZING. it was really cool, being OUTSIDE with olp, opposed to being INSIDE like my other concert. i dont know why, but the whole atmosphere just....well, it kicked ass. i was almost crying for raine when he got all pised off. this was supposed to be THEIR night; THEY'RE the ones who worked their asses off in freakin' EUROPE to put this whole thing together! my friend (derica)told me in an e-mail, that she was so close to the stage, she was able to look basically THROUGH raine's eyes and see tears, and the frustration building inside of him. that must of been so amazing to be right in front of him, to see, and most likely FEEL his pain and anger.....
well, on a lighter note....
i thought the whole show was really amazing. my favourite songs were played (4am, Naveed, SD, and Carnival)....i actually cryed during naveed at the part "there he's on his knees again...trying hard to understand, how naveed could let a young man die...convinced that he might break...he reaches for that phone...and another day is gone...." it was just too beautiful for words...i cant even discribe what i felt at that part! i was also soooo happy that they played julia! i had only heard them play the slow version live (which i love!!) but i REALLY wanted to hear them play the original version too!!
but what i thought the highlight of the evening were TWO things. one- when raine gave us his "words of wisdom" about people being trustworthy and stuff and about how he thinks we're all on the "good"" side, but that it's up to us to choose what side we want to stay on for the rest of our lives. The second highlight was something ive never felt before....it was when raine played 4am and let us sing the whole first verse (except the first few words) and the whole first chorus, ALONE....without him singing....it was so powerful to hear all of their fans singing along, and being able to watch OLP play their instruments for us...it was like a fucking sing-along! and imagine how weird it must of been for raine! to pick ANY song, and he picked the most personal of all.....i thought that was truly amazing. that feeling....that surge of energy, happiness and shock running through me.....ive never felt that. ill never EVER forget that show.
