How to Make a Concentration Game

You will need:

6 pieces of poster board, all the same colour. 12 different pictures from a colouring book. (Keep the pictures simple, e.g. car, dog, flower, and not many details to the pictures.) 24 Clothespins White Gummy Sticky Stuff ( 2 Packages)

Cut each poster board into 4 equal pieces. Cut it lengthwise at centre, and widthwise at centre.

Photocopy 2 copies of each picture. Save your master copies in case you lose one, or one is damaged, etc. Colour each of the pictures, so they look exactly the same. Some other ideas if colouring is too time consuming, get colour photocopies, or print out images found on kids' colouring books on the web. Some can be coloured on the computer and then printed out on your colour printer!

Paste the pictures onto the poster board pieces.

Print out numbers from 1 - 24 on your computer, each number on a separate page. Make the numbers as large as possible, but keep them all the same size. Use a post-it note glue stick to put the numbers on the poster board. (Put it on the back of each picture that is attached to the poster board.) Use post-it note glue because after a few games, the kids will memorize which two numbers are a match! This way, you can change the numbers on the pictures to keep them guessing!

Put the cards up on the wall using a clothespin with sticky gummy stuff stuck to it. I usually arrange them in 4 rows of 6 cards. But, you can do what you like.

To play, it works best if you have 2 adult helpers to turn over the cards. Divide kids into 2 teams. Choose kids to guess 2 numbers. Turn the cards over, if they are a match, the team gets a point. If not, the cards are turned back over, and it is the other team's turn.
