She sensed her entusiasim and happiness. Her coach Diane Amos would often tell her,"Express yourself", or "lift your head up higher". Amy has done so and with that she is one important part to USA Gymnastics today!

Dom, the oldest of the team, once had a very Different way to psych herself up and to get her ready: D-3! Determination, Dedication, and Dynamics. She appeared in the '92 and '96 games. She proved herself worthy and helped her team win gold! Dominique Dawes is one of the most coolest gymnasts around.

This is Shannon Miller. The 5'1 women who has been through so much. She competed in the '92 and '96 games along with Dawes and Strug and has always proved she was still on top! Shannon who had to wear a corrective shoe bar for her leg (it was turned severly in) when she was less than a year old overcame it and you can't even tell she had to wear one. I think everyone is now waiting for Shannon Miller--whatever new goals she decides to pursue.

Birth Date/: September 30
Club: MGI
Coach:
Began Gymnastics: 1985
Height: 4 FT, 6-1/2 IN
Parents: Dimitry and Camelia Moceanu

Additional Info: The youngest in Atlanta, but now she isn't the youngest. Dominique Helena Moceanu my favorite gymnast of all time! She didn't come back with an individual medal, but sure as heck came back with a team gold. She had her mishaps on beam and vault, but in the end she came through for the team and herself. Nowadays it's much different for dominique. Rumor has it that she is now training with Kurt Thomas in Plano, Texas and she has been on ads for the clothing store 5-7-9. This girl has come a long way. From hanging on a clothes line as a baby to flipping through Atlanta she has captivated us all.
Name: Jaycie Phelps
Hometown: Greenfield, Indiana
Birth Date/: September 26
Parents: Jack and Cheryl Phelps
Sibling: Dennis

She could never get anything right and was always frustrated at herself. She almost quit the sport!! Jaycie then came to her present coach May Lee Tracy. Jaycie helped the '96 team to gold doing her part on bars and vault. She had a few mishaps on beam, but she was strong. Jaycie came out of no where into the gymnastics world...strutting her stuff. Though she got little puplicity I think shes a great gymnast.
Name: Kerri Strug
Hometown: Tucson, Arizona
Birth Date/: November 19
Club: Formerly Karolyi's Gymnastics
Coach: Formerly Bela and Martha Karolyi
Began Gymnastics: 1982
Height: 4 FT, 9 IN
Parents: Burt and Melanie Strug
Additional Info: The young lady who did that famous vault in Atlanta. She has joined the girls in the '97 fall tour, which is great! Kerri has been in the shadows for so long. Something bad always seemed to happen to her! She missed the Olympic all-arounds by .014 of a point! She was devasted. She was always called the shy one and didn't get much attention because of Kim and Dominique. I always hated it when commentators would say "Oh look! We actually got a smile out of Kerri Strug!" That is so annoying. Maybe she is just concentrating and I just wish they would leave her alone. But when she made that famous vault she was overtaken by media and fans! In some ways it is good and some--bad. But Kerri is a normal girl. She is strong and tough. This girl vaulted her way into history.
