The Axidentals 45s with Maynard Ferguson

THE AXIDENTALS, WHAT A DIFF'RENCE A DAY MADE / JUNE IS BUSTIN' OUT ALL OVER -- ABC-Paramount 45-9819

It may come as a surprise to some of you to learn that Maynard recorded behind a vocal group called The Axidentals in the mid '50s. Russell Garcia was the orchestra leader and arranger for this session, so it's easy to see why Maynard was called in for the lead trumpet work, due to his association with Garcia on other projects. The music is sort of like Manhattan Transfer -- tight harmonies, jazz rhythm. The tunes were released in LP format, and a few 45s were pressed, as well. The 45s are MUCH RARER than the LPs!
COPY #1. This is the first copy of this 45 I've ever had for sale on the website. They're extremely RARE! This one isn't in very good shape. Interestingly, it's a white label promo 45, marked "PROMOTION COPY - NOT FOR SALE." It's only the second one like this that I've ever seen. The labels are surprisingly clean and nice, but the disc itself is scratched and worn. It's maybe GOOD-. Just a space filler, but it's RARE, so it's $2.00.
