Louis Bellson LPs with Maynard Ferguson

LOUIS BELLSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, SKIN DEEP -- Verve MGV-8137

Back on 8/14/53, Maynard entered the studio with leader Louis Bellson and laid down four tracks that are found on this 1957 LP: Skin Deep, Caxton Hall Swing, Phalanges, and For Europeans Only. MF really blows the roof off on several passages. These great Verve LPs list for $50.00 in NMINT condition in my jazz guide.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy has some definite record ring wear, mainly visible on the front. I also repaired a 5" seam split at upper right. I did a great job, and it's hard to detect the repair. I'd rate this cover as EX-. The vinyl has quite a few scuffs and light surface scratches, and they do translate into some noise on playback, especially on the softer passages. I'd rate the vinyl as VG. Thus, overall, this copy is VG+, just a hair above average. It's yours for $10.00.

WARDELL GRAY AND THE BIG BANDS (DANISH RELEASE) -- Official 3029

Back in September, 1953, Maynard entered the studio with leader Louis Bellson and laid down several tracks that are now found on 45s, EPs, CDs, and LPs under Bellson's name. In 1989, this Wardell Gray LP was released in Denmark, and it's got two tracks from that session on it, as well: Caxton Hall Swing and For Europeans Only. These are near-impossible to find in Denmark, much less in the U.S. Very, very rare!!!
COPY #1. The cover on this copy has a very slight bend in the upper left corner. Otherwise, it's like new. I'd rate the cover as NMINT, but it's ultra nice, and maybe should be rated NMINT+. The vinyl is likewise NMINT+. Due to its rarity, this one is $22.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this copy is almost like new -- NMINT+. The vinyl is likewise NMINT+, and maybe it's even MINT, NEVER PLAYED. Due to its rarity and the superb condition, this one is $25.00.
