Maynard Ferguson 45 RPM Records

MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, LOVE LOCKED OUT / BAND AIN'T DRAGGIN' -- Capitol F-1269

On 9/12 - 9/13/50, Maynard entered the studio to record the tracks seen on this 45. I've seen this recording several times in 78 RPM format, but they appear to me to be probably 5 times as rare as 45s. I've seen less than a handful of copies. If you're a serious MF collector, and I have one of these in stock, I would urge you to pick it up! They're near-impossible to find.
COPY #1. Just in, here's another nice copy of this rare and desirable 45. The labels on this one are clean and nice but do show a hint of ring wear. The vinyl is play-graded at a very respectable EX- to EX. I think this is maybe the fourth copy of this 45 I've ever seen. And, it comes with a CD of the two tracks transcribed directly from the 45. It's yours for $11.00.
COPY #2. I finally got another one of these. The Love Locked Out side has a tiny scrape on the label -- about the size of a raisin. Otherwise, the labels are quite nice. I test played this one. It looks EX buy plays more like NM-. Let's call it EX+. And, it comes with a CD of the two tracks transcribed directly from the 45. $14.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, THE HOT CANARY / WHAT'S NEW? -- Capitol 6F-1713

MF plays with Stan Kenton's Orchestra on his most sought-after single recording of all time, The Hot Canary, backed with What's New?, and recorded 5/31/51. For those of you who don't yet know, this is THE 45 that every MF collector needs to have in their collection. Originally issued with a paper picture cover, 95% of them no longer have the original covers. They're VERY hard to find, and command a relatively high price due to their extreme desirability. And ... the covers are almost always damaged, since they're just thin paper, not cardboard. If you can't afford one with the picture cover, I recommend getting a copy without a cover, then saving for the day when you're "flush" enough to get one with the cover.
COPY #1. This one does not have a picture cover. It's in just a plain white sleeve. The vinyl has quite a bit of the typical fine surface scratching that's almost always present on these very early 45s. It plays OK, but with definite background noise. I'd rate it as VG to VG+. The labels are nice and clean, with just a couple of small nicks in the paper on the inner rim. Overall, it's a solid copy. $6.00 BONUS: THIS 45 COMES WITH A BACK-UP TRANSCRIPTION CD OF THESE TWO TUNES RECORDED DIRECTLY FROM THE ORIGINAL 45.
COPY #2. This one does not have a picture cover. It's in just a plain white sleeve. The vinyl is pretty nice, but does have a couple of scuffs, light scratches, and some of the typical fine surface scratching you find on most of these 45s. It plays with some definite background noise, but it's not too bad. I'd rate this one as EX- to EX. The labels are nice and clean. $7.00. BONUS: THIS 45 COMES WITH A BACK-UP TRANSCRIPTION CD OF THESE TWO TUNES RECORDED DIRECTLY FROM THE ORIGINAL 45.
COPY #3. Here's a space filler copy. Of course, it has no picture cover. It's just in a generic sleeve. The labels are heavily worn. On the Hot Canary side, wear is the only problem. On the What's New side, it's a disaster. There's a gold sticker that says "CERTIFIED COLLECTOR'S ITEM" (yeah, it was until you put this stupid sticker on it, you jerk!). The name "Melvin Ely" is rubber stamped in black ink, there's a small spot where a little square sticker was removed and left a dark spot, and there's a little writing in red grease pencil. Ugh! Ugly. The vinyl isn't much better. It's heavily crosshatched with fine scratches everywhere. This translates to quite noisy playback. The only reason I didn't just toss this in the trash is that it actually plays through without skipping, and given the rarity of these guys, I decided it was still worth a little bit. So if you want one just to listen to, or intend to someday replace it with a nicer copy, this is for you. Just $1.00. BONUS: THIS 45 COMES WITH A BACK-UP TRANSCRIPTION CD OF THESE TWO TUNES RECORDED DIRECTLY FROM THE ORIGINAL 45.
COPY #4. This one DOES have an original picture cover. The sleeve is pretty typical, with a 2" seam split at bottom center, a 1/2" vertical tear on the bottom seam, a very small 4-digit name written on the cover, and some general overall wear. But as these covers go, this one is fairly decent. I'd rate it as EX-. The disc labels are clean and nice, and the vinyl has quite a bit of very fine surface scratching -- the kind that causes background noise when played, but no significant problems. Overall, this copy is a solid EX- to EX. $30.00. BONUS: THIS 45 COMES WITH A BACK-UP TRANSCRIPTION CD OF THESE TWO TUNES RECORDED DIRECTLY FROM THE ORIGINAL 45.
COPY #5. This one DOES have an original picture sleeve. The sleeve looks great from the front. There's just a little wrinkling and a little ring wear, but they're both minimal, and it looks great. On the back, there was a yellow paper label at one time. It's been partially removed, causing some tearing to the backing paper. A bit of the yellow label still remains. Still, due to the excellent condition overall, I'd rate this sleeve as EX. The vinyl has super clean and nice labels -- just like new. And the condition of the vinyl is NMINT- to NMINT. It's perhaps the nicest vinyl I've seen on this record. Overall, an EX++ copy. Yours for $50.00. BONUS: THIS 45 COMES WITH A BACK-UP TRANSCRIPTION CD OF THESE TWO TUNES RECORDED DIRECTLY FROM THE ORIGINAL 45.
COPY #6. This one comes in a generic sleeve. The labels show a bit of wear on both sides, but they're generally OK. The vinyl is a bit cloudy and has a few very light surface scratches. It's in the VG+ to EX- range. Priced accordingly, this one is just $6.00. BONUS: THIS 45 COMES WITH A BACK-UP TRANSCRIPTION CD OF THESE TWO TUNES RECORDED DIRECTLY FROM THE ORIGINAL 45.
COPY #7. This one DOES have the original picture cover!!!!!!! As I'm sure you know, this 45 in an original picture cover is ULTRA rare!!! These open from the top. On this copy, there's a 1" seam split from the upper right corner for a short distance along the right edge. There's also a 1" seam crack at left center and a 1" seam crack at bottom center. Given that this is just a thin, paper sleeve, you can see the record ring impression in the paper, front and back. Along the opening slit at top, are three short little closed tears that are almost impossible to see. I've been as careful as possible to describe every little flaw in minute detail, but don't be dismayed. It's actually a very nice cover -- just as nice as the one in my personal collection. Believe it or not, they just don't come much better than this. I'd rate it as EX to EX+. The vinyl is very nice, with just a little of the typical fine surface scratching that's almost always present on these very early 45s. It plays well, with just a little background noise. I'd rate it as EX to EX+. The labels are nice and clean, with no damage of any kind. So, overall, this is an EX TO EX+ copy. Again, it would be hard to find one much nicer than this one. Due to the excellent condition and relative rarity, this copy is $40.00. BONUS: THIS 45 COMES WITH A BACK-UP TRANSCRIPTION CD OF THESE TWO TUNES RECORDED DIRECTLY FROM THE ORIGINAL 45.
COPY #8. This one DOES have an original picture sleeve. The sleeve looks nice, but there are a few issues. There's a little wrinkling and a little VERY light staining, probably from some moisture, but it still looks great. There are two miniscule tears at the opening slit, but they're extremely minimal. Unlike most of these sleeves, this one does NOT have seam splits. Even with a few minor issues, this is still one of the better sleeves I've seen. I'd rate it as EX. The vinyl has super clean and nice labels -- just like new. The "optional center" triangle has never been removed from this 45, so it can still be played on a normal, small, LP spindle. And the condition of the vinyl is great. I'm listening to it right now. There's almost no background noise. I'd rate it as EX++ to NMINT-. It's really nice, and sounds great. I'd rate this copy as EX+ to EX++. One of the nicer ones out there. Yours for $45.00. BONUS: THIS 45 COMES WITH A BACK-UP TRANSCRIPTION CD OF THESE TWO TUNES RECORDED DIRECTLY FROM THE ORIGINAL 45.
COPY #9. This one DOES have an original picture sleeve. The sleeve looks great. Someone wrote the number "19" in a small circle on the front (smaller than a dime). There's just the tiniest hint of wear and tiny little edge tears (VERY tiny -- almost invisible). Overall, it's one of the cleanest covers I've ever seen, and I've probably seen more than a dozen now. I'd rate this sleeve as EX+. The vinyl has clean and nice labels -- almost like new. I played both sides, and other than a little surface noise in places, it plays great. I'd rate it as easily EX+, and probably EX++. Overall, an EX+ copy. Yours for $45.00. BONUS: THIS 45 COMES WITH A BACK-UP TRANSCRIPTION CD OF THESE TWO TUNES RECORDED DIRECTLY FROM THE ORIGINAL 45.

KAY BROWN WITH ORCHESTRA DIRECTED BY MAYNARD FERGUSON, AND SO I WAITED AROUND / HOMING PIGEON -- Mercury 5819X45

On 2/25/52, Maynard entered the studio with his then-wife Kay Brown to record the tracks seen on this 45. I've seen this recording several times in 78 RPM format, but they appear to me to be probably 5 times as rare as 45s. If you're a serious MF collector, and I have one of these in stock, I would urge you to pick it up! They're quite hard to find.
COPY #1. Just in, here's the first copy of this 45 I've ever had for sale on this website, and only the third copy I've ever seen!!! The labels are clean and nice with no writing or other damage. The disc itself plays through with no significant problems, but there's some background noise all the way through. I'd rate the disc as VG+ to EX-. Due to its absolute and unquestioned rarity, this copy is $15.00.
COPY #2. This is only the fourth copy I've ever seen of this rare disc. The labels on this one are super clean and nice ... almost like new. The disc itself is clean and shiny, with just a few smudges visible on the surface. I play tested this one. The "And So ..." side plays quite nicely, with just a bit of background noise audible throughout. The "Homing ..." side plays a bit rougher, with definite background noise audible throughout, and a bit annoying on the opening grooves. I'd rate this disc as VG+ to EX-. Due to its extreme rarity, this one is $15.00.
COPY #3. After searching high and low, I found another one of these rare little gems. The labels on this copy show just the slightest wear. They're still NMINT. The disc itself has quite a few scuffs and light surface scratches. It plays with some definite background noise. I'd rate it as VG. This copy is just $8.00.
COPY #4. Just in, this one has a sticker on the Homing Pigeon side on which someone has written "FOX TROT." And there's some definite wear visible on the labels, as well. The played the vinyl so I'll play-grade the vinyl as VG-, with crackle throughout, but no skips. So this is a fairly average copy, which is good for you, because the price is right on this rare 45. It's just $6.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, HOLLYWOOD PARTY -- EmArcy EP-1-6027

Here's Maynard's super little 45 EP album with original picture cover!!! These are pretty hard to find, and my experience tells me that these are rarer than the original 10" and 12" LPs. It contains the track Night Letter from the Hollywood Party LP.
COPY #1. Here's the first copy of this EP that I've had in awhile. The front paper is relatively clean and nice with no damage. The spine is intact, the bottom seam is just starting to split at the very tip of the right edge, and the top seam has had a split carefully repaired (by me), and it's hard to detect the repair. There's some of the typical brownish toning on the back cover paper, mainly around the edges. So although it looks quite nice from the front, I'm going to rate this one as just VG+ -- a hair better than average. The disc has nice clean labels, and the vinyl rates an EX. Overall, let's call this copy EX-. It's yours for $11.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, HOLLYWOOD PARTY (ENGLISH PRESSING) -- EmArcy EP-1-6027

Here's Maynard's super little 45 EP album with original picture cover!!! These are pretty hard to find, and my experience tells me that these are rarer than the original 10" and 12" LPs. It contains the track Night Letter from the Hollywood Party LP. But THIS COPY is the English version, pressed by Oriole Records Ltd. Much, much rarer than its U.S. conterpart!
COPY #1. Just in, this is the first copy of this rare little EP I've had in stock for several years. The cover is super clean and nice, with no seam splits or other damage. The front looks almost new. The back shows a bit of brownish toning, but still, this cover is NMINT. The vinyl is just average, with a number of scuffs and light scratches, although it plays quite nicely, with good fidelity and just the typical background noise you'd expect on a 45 from this era. I'm going to call it VG to VG+. Overall, let's call this copy EX. It's yours for $15.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, CONCEPTION -- EmArcy EP-1-6028

Here's Maynard's super little 45 EP album with original picture cover!!! These are extremely hard to find. It contains the track Somebody Loves Me from the Hollywood Party LP. Quite rare, and a MUST for every serious MF collection.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is a little bit rough. The front paper is quite nice, but there's a 1" seam split at upper right and another at lower right. There's a bit of brownish toning on the backing paper, small writing (the original owner's name) in ink, and some reddish spots (Kool-Aide?). Anyway, the cover is VG, at best. The disc labels are clean and nice, and the vinyl itself is EX. A reasonably nice copy, this one is $12.00.
COPY #2. This one is just in. The cover is relatively clean and nice. The front paper is in excellent condition. There's some of the typical light brownish toning on the backing paper, but it's not too bad. The seams and spine remain intact, except for 1/4" split at upper right (tiny). Actually, this is one of the nicer copies of this cover I've seen. I'd rate it EX+. The disc has clean and nice labels. It looks to be EX+. However, I test played it. Side B is indeed EX+. Side A, however, has some clicks, and the first time I played it it skipped. I repositioned my tone arm to add just a tad more weight to the stylus, and this time it played through without skips. But there's significant background noise on this side, besides those clicks. So Side A is maybe VG+. I'd rate the disc as EX- to EX. Overall, this copy is a solid EX. Due to its relative rarity, it's $13.00.
COPY #3. This one has very clean and nice front paper, and the backing paper is about as nice as you'll find for this EP. There's a 2" seam split at upper right, and an almost-3" seam split at lower right. Still, it's quite a nice cover. I'd still rate it as EX. The disc has clean and nice labels, but the vinyl has a number of scuffs and light scratches, and it plays with some definite click and pops in places. With my tone arm set to a delicate setting, I also got a few skips. Side B plays a lot better than side A. I'd rate Side A as just GOOD-, and side B as VG-. Overall, let's call this copy VG. It's $7.00.
COPY #4. COVER ONLY. Here's a nice cover for someone who has the disc but no cover. The front paper is really clean and nice. The top seam is split about 1" from the right edge and the bottom seam is also split. There's just a tiny bit of brownish toning around the edges and a tiny bit of overall wear visible. Still, it's a very nice cover overall. EX-. Just $3.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, SOMEBODY LOVES ME (SWEDISH PRESSING) -- EmArcy/Metronome EP-1-6028

Here's the Swedish version of Maynard's super little 45 EP album which was entitled Conception in the U.S. These are extremely hard to find. It contains the track Somebody Loves Me from the Hollywood Party LP. Extremely rare, and a MUST for every serious MF collection.
COPY #1. The picture cover is missing from this one. (If it was here, this would be a $50.00 EP.) The disc labels are clean and nice, and the vinyl itself is EX. A quite nice copy, but due to the missing cover, this one is $5.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, DIMENSIONS -- EmArcy EP-1-6038

Here's Maynard's super little 45 EP album with original picture cover!!! These are pretty hard to find, and my experience tells me that these are rarer than the original 10" and 12" LPs. It contains the tracks Maiden Voyage, Thou Swell, The Way You Look Tonight, and Lonely Town from the Dimensions 10" LP.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT / LONELY TOWN -- EmArcy 16002X45

Here's Maynard on two great tracks from the EmArcy years. These are not impossible to find, but they're getting more difficult to obtain as time goes on.
COPY #1. The labels on this one are relatively clean and nice. The vinyl has quite a few very light scuffs and light scratches. It's in the VG- to VG range. Yours for $4.00.
COPY #2. The labels on this copy are relatively clean and nice. The vinyl on one side is a clean and nice EX, but there are numerous light scratches on the other side, which is only VG-. Overall, I'd rate this one as VG+. $5.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, ALL GOD'S CHILDREN GOT RHYTHM / SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW -- EmArcy 16013X45

Here's Maynard on two great tracks from the EmArcy years. These are not impossible to find, but they're getting more difficult to obtain as time goes on.
COPY #1. The labels on this copy are clean and nice, with just a couple of ultra light scratches visible in the paper on one side. The vinyl itself is EX. Yours for $7.00.
COPY #2. The labels on this one are relatively clean and nice, but there is a rectangular spot of clear tape remaining on one side. The disc itself is EX-. A decent but imperfect copy, this one is just $4.00.
COPY #3. The labels on this copy are clean and nice. The vinyl has a few light surface scuffs and light surface scratches, but they're not deep. I'd rate this disc as EX. A nice, solid, copy, it's $7.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, THE BIG HORN -- EmArcy EP-1-6039

Here's Maynard's very rare little 45 EP album with original picture cover!!! These are incredibly hard to find! It contains the tracks Willie Nillie, Hymn to Her, All God's Children Got Rhythm, and Somewhere Over the Rainbow from the Dimensions 10" LP. If you'd like to see what this record looks like, and also how much a super nice copy sold for, see my old and defunct auction section.
NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, JAM SESSION VOL. 1 -- EmArcy EP-1-6109

Here's Maynard on a little 45 EP album with original picture cover!!! It has just one track, divided over the two sides -- Our Love is Here to Stay. The cover looks almost exactly like the original EmArcy Jam Session LP. A real classic!
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, JAM SESSION VOL. 2 -- EmArcy EP-1-6110

Here's Volume 2 of the great Jam Session EP!!! It has just one track, divided over the two sides -- Air Conditioned. The cover differs quite a bit from the LP cover, and this EP, in my experience, is about 10 times are rare as Volume 1! Folks, I have no idea why, but you almost NEVER see this Vol. 2 EP. The Vol. 1s are relatively common. Vol. 2s are relatively rare.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MAYNARD FERGUSON OCTET -- EmArcy EP-1-6149

Folks, this is THE RAREST of the MF EmArcy picture cover EPs. It comes in two versions ... one with both an original blue drummer label, and one with a slightly later black label. (It also comes in an Italian version. See below.) I cannot stress strongly enough the rarity of these EPs. I've seen less than a handful in my many years of collecting, and most of the really nice collections I've seen don't have this item. It contains the tracks Super-G and What Was Her Name? Several years ago I sold one in EX+ condition for $150.00.
COPY #1. Just in, here's the first copy of this rare little EP I've had in several years. The cover on this one has super clean and nice front paper. The seams and spine are intact except for a 3/4" seam split in the lower right corner. The backing paper is clean and nice. I'd rate this cover as NMINT- ... one of the best available. The disc has nice clean labels and the vinyl has just a few light surface scuffs and light scratches. It plays with a little background noise throughout (as do most 45s), but it's still easily an EX copy. Overall, let's call this copy EX+. A nice, solid copy of a highly-collectable EP. This one is priced at $18.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MAYNARD FERGUSON OCTET (ITALIAN RELEASE) -- EmArcy EP 1-6149 Vol. 1

Folks, this is THE RAREST of the MF EmArcy picture cover EPs. This is the Italian version, volume 1. (Italy also produced volumes 2 and 3 with the other tunes from the LP. In the U.S., these were not produced.) I cannot stress strongly enough the rarity of these EPs. I've seen less than a handful of the U.S. versions in my many years of collecting, and the Italian version is much rarer. It contains the tracks Super-G and What Was Her Name?
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, AUTUMN LEAVES / FINGER SNAPPIN' -- Mercury 70685X45

Here's Maynard on a a nice 45 RPM disc of two great tracks from the Mercury/EmArcy era. This is a very hard 45 to find. I only see about one every 18 months.
COPY #1. Just in, here's a nice copy with clean and nice labels and EX vinyl. It's $10.00.
COPY #2. The labels on this copy are clean and nice, and the disc itself is EX-. A solid copy, it's $8.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, AROUND THE HORN WITH MAYNARD FERGUSON (U.K. RELEASE) -- EmArcy PYE ERE 1580

Here's Maynard on a a nice 45 RPM EP picture disc from England. The cover is unlike any U.S. release I've seen. It's got Maynard playing his horn, and he's in a sort of blue tint, against a purple background. Really rare, and really unique. Tracks include Dancing Nitely, Well, Hardly Ever, Never You Mind, and Wildman from the Around the Horn with MF LP. Nothing like it was released in the U.S.
COPY #1. Just in, this is the first copy of this rare EP I've ever had to post on the website. The picture cover has a couple of light creases at upper right, and a little surface wear visible, front and back. But still, it's a very nice cover, and rates an EX+. The disc retains its original factory center hole (it wasn't punched out for a large spindle), and the labels are pristine. The vinyl is EX++. Overall this clean and nice copy is EX+ to EX++. Due to its rarity, it's $30.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, BIRDLAND DREAM BAND VOLUME 1 -- Vik EXA-201

Here's Maynard on a a nice 45 RPM EP picture disc. This is an EXCEPTIONALLY RARE EP. It includes the tracks The Wailing Boat, Maynard the Fox, Still Water Stomp, and More West from the Birdland Dream Band LP. These EPs appear to be 10 times (or more) rarer than the original LPs. They're just exceptionally rare and I've only come across about 3 copies in all the time I've been collecting.
COPY #1. Just in, this is the first copy of this rare EP I've ever had to post on the website. The picture cover on this one has some "foxing" (brownish staining) front and back (which is typical for this EP). Except for a few bumps on the bottom seam, however, the seams and spine are still intact. I'd rate this cover as VG+ to EX-. The disc itself is a quite decent EX-, as well. Overall, let's call this copy EX-. Due to its extreme rarity, this one is $22.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, YESTERDAYS / INDISCREET -- Roulette R-4084

Well, folks, here it is -- a super rare little Roulette 45. These two tracks exist ONLY on this 45. They never made it to an LP, and they did NOT make it onto the fabulous Mosaic boxed set. This is the only way to get them, and this 45 is incredibly rare, as well as sought by every serious MF collector. It comes in both a normal version and a version that has the words "DISK JOCKEY -- NOT FOR SALE" printed on the record label.
COPY #1. Just in, this one is a DISK JOCKEY version. The labels show just a hint of wear on each side. The vinyl itself is relatively clean and nice, and looks to be EX+. However, I play graded this one, and to my surprise and dismay it plays with a ton of background noise audible throughout. The disc looks fine, and plays without any pops or skips. But for some reason, which I can only attribute to tons of play, it's very noisy. I'm going to grade it as just GODD. A bargain-priced copy of this ultra rare disc at just $3.00.
COPY #2. Just in, this one has DISK JOCKEY type labels, which are relatively clean and nice. The disc itself has quite a few ultra fine surface scratches, and this translates to background noise throughout on playback, although the fidelity is quite good, and there are zero skips or pops. I'd rate the disc as VG-, and this one is $5.00.
COPY #3. This one has DISK JOCKEY type labels, which show just a bit of wear. The vinyl looks pretty good, but I encountered some skips when test-playing it. So it's in POOR condition. Just $1.00 if you want one you can listen to but which is not going to play through well.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, HEY THERE / LET'S FALL IN LOVE -- Roulette R-4207

Here's Maynard on two tracks from the Roulette era, recorded 10/28/59. This 45 comes in both a regular and a disk jockey version. These little Roulette 45s are very hard to find! And, of course, they came in a paper sleeve, not a picture cover.
COPY #1. This one has the DISK JOCKEY type labels. The labels are clean and nice. The disc has quite a few scuffs and light scratches, and there's some definite background noise on playback. I'd rate this copy as VG. It's $7.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, HEY THERE / LET'S FALL IN LOVE (NEW ZEALAND PRESSING) -- Roulette R4207

Here's Maynard on two tracks from the Roulette era, recorded 10/28/59. And this is an ultra rare New Zealand pressing of the disc, with a small spindle hole as opposed to the large hole on the U.S. pressing. It's very hard to find! And, of course, they came in a paper sleeve, not a picture cover.
COPY #1. This is only the second copy of this rare 45 I've ever seen. The other one is in my personal collection, of course. The condition of the label is pretty good, but the red stripe on one side has "bled" just a bit. (Same on the copy in my collection. They must have been very susceptible to this.) Otherwise the labels are clean and nice. The disc itself is EX and plays nicely with just a bit of background noise audible in the softer passages. A rare gem, this one is $17.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, DOIN' THE MADISON PART 1 / PART 2 -- Roulette R-4250

Here's Maynard on parts 1 and 2 of a track from the Roulette era (half is on one side of the 45; half on the other). They are only available on the now out-of-print Mosaic CD set, the Mosaic LP set, or on this 45. It comes three ways ... in a normal, a disk jockey, and a promotional version. These little Roulette 45s are very hard to find! And, of course, they came in a paper sleeve, not a picture cover.
COPY #1. The label on this copy is clean and nice, with just the faintest hint of some ring wear on one side, and a few light wrinkles in the label on both sides. It obviously came that way from the factory, and they're very, very light. This one's the version that has "DISK JOCKEY / NOT FOR SALE" printed on the label. The vinyl is EX++. Really a nice copy, yours for $13.00.
COPY #2. This one has "DISK JOCKEY / NOT FOR SALE" printed on the label. The labels have "45-8101" printed with a black marker on each side, but are otherwise clean and nice. The vinyl is EX. Overall, due to the writing on the labels, let's call this one EX-. Yours for $11.00.
COPY #3. This one has "DISK JOCKEY / NOT FOR SALE" printed on the label. The labels are super clean and nice, with just a few of the common, very light wrinkles in them, as produced at the factory. The vinyl is NMINT-. Overall, a super, NMINT- copy of this relatively rare little 45. $15.00.
COPY #4. This one has "PROMOTIONAL COPY / NOT FOR SALE" printed on the label. This appears to me to be the rarest of the three types of inscription. The labels are relatively clean and nice, with the only issue being a little wear on the "Part 1" side. The vinyl is in the EX+ range. Overall, a nice, EX+ copy. It's yours for $12.00.
COPY #5. This copy is a "DISK JOCKEY / NOT FOR SALE" version. It has some definite surface wear visible on both labels, but there are no tears or writing present. The vinyl on this one has some definite scuffs and light surface scratches. It looks to be VG+, but it actually plays a bit better than that -- EX- to EX. A nice, solid, copy, it's yours for $9.00.
COPY #6. This one has radio station call letters WHRC rubber stamped on each side of the label, along with numbers written on each label in black marker. Quite unattractive. This one is the "DISK JOCKEY / NOT FOR SALE" type. The disc itself is EX. Due to the unattractive labels, this copy is just $5.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, HIP TWIST / MARIA -- Roulette R-4421

Here's Maynard on two tracks from the Roulette era. This 45 comes in both a regular and a "RADIO STATION COPY / NOT FOR SALE" version. These little Roulette 45s are very hard to find! And, of course, they came in a paper sleeve, not a picture cover.
COPY #1. This one is a "RADIO STATION COPY" type of disc. I believe this is the first copy of this disc I've ever had for sale on the set sale portion of the website. It's quite hard to find. The labels on this copy show just a hint of wear. On the "Maria" side, there's a spot of discoloration where a sticker was removed. Both sides look to be EX, and the "Hip Twist" side plays EX to EX+, but the Maria side has considerably more background noise on playback. It plays in the VG range. Overall, let's call this one EX-. It's $8.00.
COPY #2. The labels on this one are the "RADIO STATION COPY" variety. Other than a tiny bit of ring wear on the Hip Twise side, they're super clean and nice, and the disc itself is NMINT. A super copy! $17.00.
COPY #3. The labels on this one are the "RADIO STATION COPY" variety. They're super clean and nice. The disc itself is EX+. A very nice copy, it's $12.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, SECRET LOVE / DON' CHA GO 'WAY MAD -- Roulette SSR-8016

Here's Maynard on two great tracks in STEREO from the Roulette era. These little 45s are next-to-impossible to find anymore. Really a TREAT!!!

MAYNARD FERGUSON, LET'S FACE THE MUSIC AND DANCE (SWEDISH RELEASE) -- Roulette REP-1025

Here's Maynard on a rare, picture cover EP from Sweden. It's got the tracks Let's Face the Music and Dance, Let's Do It, It's Only a Paper Moon, and Don't Take Your Love From Me, all of which come from the LP Let's Face the Music and Dance. This little Swedish EP has a cover similar to the U.S. LP, but it's probably 50 times rarer than the U.S. LPs.
COPY #1. This is the first copy of this rare little EP I've ever had for sale on the website. The cover is a clean and nice NMINT-, with no significant problems. The vinyl contains its original center hole (it was never punched out for use with a large spindle), and the labels are clean and nice. The vinyl itself has quite a few light scuffs and surface scratches, and plays with some definite surface noise. I'd rate the disc as VG++ to EX-. Overall, this copy is in the EX range. Due to its rarity, it's $22.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MAYNARD FERGUSON PLAYS JAZZ FOR DANCING (DUTCH RELEASE) -- Roulette EPR 1509

Here's Maynard on a rare, picture cover EP from Holland. It's got the tracks Stompin' at the Savoy, 'Round About Midnight, I'll be Seeing You, and Soft Winds, all of which come from the LP with the same title. This little Dutch EP has a cover similar to the U.S. LP, but it's probably 50 times rarer than the U.S. LPs.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MAYNARD FERGUSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA (UK RELEASE) -- Sonet SXP 2018

Here's Maynard on a rare, picture cover EP from the UK (or possibly Sweden - I'm not 100% certain, as there is no indication on the disc or cover). It's got the tracks Don't Go Away Mad, Dancing in the Dark, B.J.'s Back in Town, and Bye Bye Blackbird. This little EP has a cover similar to the U.S. Swingin' My way Through College LP, except for the words MAYNARD and FERGUSON arranged vertically along the left front. This EP comes with two types of covers. On one of them, the word FERGUSON on the front is printed in light brown ink. On the other one, FERGUSON is in light orange ink. This EP is probably 50 times rarer than the U.S. LP it's modeled after.
COPY #1. This is the first copy of this rare little EP I've ever had for sale on the website. The cover has some toning from age. I'd rate it as EX- to EX. The labels on the disc are super clean and nice, and the vinyl is EX+. Overall, let's call this one EX. It's $22.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, LET'S FACE THE MUSIC AND DANCE -- Roulette SSR-33-8034, 8035, 8036, 8037, and 8038

This one takes a bit of explaining. Back when the Let's Face the Music and Dance LP was released, a 5-EP set was supplied for juke boxes. It contained 10 tracks from the LP -- one track per side. Generally you only see the individual discs, which I believe were sold separately on a retail basis, as well. But the juke box version of this LP came on 5 seven-inch 33 1/3 RPM discs, packed with a seven-inch glossy paper facsimile of the LP cover, as well as juke box title strips, and they came in a brown manilla envelope with "ARTIST OF THE WEEK" / MAYNARD FERGUSON printed on the envelope. You may have the 5 single EPs, but most people have never seen the complete, packaged juke box set in the original Roulette envelope with the album artwork and title strips. If I ever get one of these, rest assured that it's incredibly rare, and I would suggest you pounce on it.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, LET'S FACE THE MUSIC / TEACH ME TONIGHT -- Roulette SSR-33-8034

Here's Maynard on two great tracks in STEREO from the Roulette era Let's Face the Music and Dance LP. This disc has a small spindle hole and actually plays at 33 1/3 RPM. It was originally intended for juke box use. It's one of the hardest 7" discs to find with MF.
COPY #1. The labels on this one are super clean and nice and the disc itself is EX++. It's $7.00.
COPY #2. The labels on this one are super clean and nice and the disc itself is EX++. It's $7.00.
COPY #3. The labels on this copy show just a tiny hint of surface wear. The disc is a clean and nice EX. It's $5.00.

COPY #1. The labels on this one are relatively clean and nice, with just a little surface wear visible. The vinyl has a number of light, parallel surface scratches. It plays with some definite background noise. It's VG. This hard-to-find little disc is priced at $3.00.
COPY #2. The labels on this one are super clean and nice and the disc itself is EX. It's $5.00.
COPY #3. The labels on this one are super clean and nice and the disc itself is NMINT. It's $12.00.
COPY #4. The labels on this one are super clean and nice and the disc itself is EX. It's $5.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MY FOOLISH HEART / (I'M AFRAID) THE MASQUERADE IS OVER -- Roulette SSR-33-8037

Here's Maynard on two great tracks in STEREO from the Roulette era Let's Face the Music and Dance LP. This disc has a small spindle hole and actually plays at 33 1/3 RPM. It was originally intended for juke box use. It's one of the hardest 7" discs to find with MF.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, LET'S DO IT / DON'T TAKE YOUR LOVE FROM ME -- Roulette SSR-33-8038

Here's Maynard on two great tracks in STEREO from the Roulette era Let's Face the Music and Dance LP. This disc has a small spindle hole and actually plays at 33 1/3 RPM. It was originally intended for juke box use. It's one of the hardest 7" discs to find with MF.
COPY #1. The labels on this one are clean and nice but a bit faded on the "Let's Do It" side. The disc itself is VF+ to EX-. It's $5.00.
COPY #2. The labels on this one are clean and nice except for a light "X" written on one label. The disc itself is EX. It's $3.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, TWO'S COMPANY -- Roulette SEPR-1-333

Back in about 1963, a juke box company issued a few hundred copies of a little 7" miniature version of the Two's Company LP. It came with a picture cover that looked just like the 12" LP, and it included the tracks Send for Me, When the Sun Comes Out, Can't Get Out of This Mood, I Feel a Song Coming On, Guess Who I Saw Today, and New York's My Home. Today these are incredibly rare, and you almost never find them with the picture sleeves, as they were put in juke boxes and the sleeves were usually tossed in the trash. With the sleeves, they're VERY pricey; without, they're still rare, and a must in every serious collection. I hunt and hunt to find them in the original jackets, and I find maybe one a year. Also, the discs tend to have lots of scratches from use in the juke boxes. It's incredibly rare to find a NMINT disc on one of these.
COPY #1. The cover is missing on this copy. It's in just a plain white jacket. The label is very nice, and the vinyl is EX. $3.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one shows a bit of surface wear, front and back. On the front, at upper right, there's a tiny "grain of rice size" spot where the cover ink is gone. I made some careful seam repairs at top and bottom. I'd rate this cover as EX-. The vinyl has quite a few surface scratches and plays with some definite background noise. It's VG-. Overall, this copy is in the VG to VG+ range. Just $14.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this copy has some record ring and surface wear. I also had to carefully repair the seams, both top and bottom. I'd rate this cover as VG+ to EX-. The vinyl has some very light surface scratches, but it's actually pretty nice, compared to most copies. I'd rate it as EX. Overall, this copy is in the EX- range. $16.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, SUMMERTIME / THE LONESOME ROAD -- Atlantic 45-5014

Here's a very hard-to-find Atlantic 45 with two tracks from the Double Exposure LP. Both tracks, are, of course, excellent tunes with Maynard and Chris Connor. I've seen this 45 with the words "45 RPM" on the label just above right center, and I've also seen them with the words "JAZZ SERIES" in that same spot. Try to get both for your collection.
COPY #1. Just in, this is the first copy of this 45 I've ever had for sale on this website. This one has the "45 RPM" wording on the label. The labels are relatively clean and nice, with a bit of wear visible, but no sticker or other damage. The vinyl is pretty scratchy. It's just GD. Don't buy this one for superior sound quality, but strictly for its rarity as an MF collectable. $2.00.
COPY #2. The labels on this one have the "45 RPM" wording. The labels are relatively clean and nice, but do show a bit of light ring wear. The vinyl is EX-. Just $6.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MAYNARD '63 -- Roulette SEPR-1-329

Back in about 1963, a juke box company issued a few hundred copies of a little 7" miniature version of the Maynard '63 LP, playing at 33 1/3 RPM. It came with a picture cover that looked just like the 12" LP, and it included the tracks In Retrospect, Knarf, Sin Blues, and Let's Try. Today these are incredibly rare, and you almost never find them with the picture sleeves, as they were put in juke boxes and the sleeves were usually tossed in the trash. With the sleeves, they're VERY pricey; without, they're still rare, and a must in every serious collection.
COPY #1. The cover is missing on this copy. It's in just a plain white jacket. The label is very nice, and the vinyl is EX-. $15.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, ANTHONY AND CLEOPATRA / THEME FROM "NAKED CITY" -- Cameo C-261

Here's Maynard on two tracks from the Cameo era. These are very elusive little 45s, and this particular one comes in at least two different versions that I'm aware of -- a red label normal version, and a white label "DJ version." Check your collection to see which one you have, as you might want the other, as well.
COPY #1. This is a white label DJ copy. The labels show a bit of shelf wear, but it's minimal. The vinyl is a clean and nice NMINT. Really great condition! $13.00.
COPY #2. This is a white label DJ copy. The labels show just a hint of shelf wear, but it's minimal. The vinyl is a clean and nice NMINT-. $12.00.
COPY #3. This is a white label DJ copy. The labels show just a hint of shelf wear, but it's minimal. The vinyl is a clean and nice NMINT-. $12.00.
COPY #4. This one has the white DJ labels. The labels show just a hint of shelf wear, but it's minimal. The vinyl is EX+. Yours for $9.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, BLUES FOR A FOUR STRING GUITAR / GROOVE -- Cameo C-275

Here's Maynard on two tracks from the Cameo LP "Come Blow Your Horn." These are very elusive little 45s, and this particular one comes in three different versions -- a red label normal version, a red label "promo" version, and a white label "DJ version." Check your collection to see which one you have, as you might want the others, as well.
COPY #1. Just in, this one is the white label "DJ version". The labels are relatively clean and nice, with just a little wear visible. The disc itself shows quite a few fine surface scratches, and plays with some definite background noise. I'd rate it as VG, maybe VG+. Still, this is an exceptionally hard 45 to find. Grab it while you can. $4.00.
COPY #2. This is a normal red label version. There's some light writing on the side A label and a little fading, perhaps where some of the writing was erased. Side B is clean. The disc itself is EX++. Yours for $8.00.
COPY #3. This is a red label promo version. I think it's the rarest of all three types. The labels are ultra clean and nice -- like new. The vinyl is EX. Yours for $9.00.
COPY #4. Just in, this one is the white label "DJ version". The labels are relatively clean and nice, with just a hint of wear visible. The disc itself is clean and nice, with just a few ultra minor scratches. But someone, perhaps at a garage sale, wrote "5c" with a white marking pen of some kind directly on the grooves. It's been removed, but in oblique lighting, you can still see a hint of this marking. Just to be sure, I play tested it, and this does not affect play. In fact, it plays great. I'm going to rate the disc as EX++, but with this one small flaw, it's yours for $6.00.
COPY #5. Just in, this one is the white label "DJ version". The labels are relatively clean and nice, with just a hint of light toning and wear visible. The disc itself is clean and nice, with just a few ultra minor scratches. The vinyl is VG+ to EX-. It's yours for $5.00

MAYNARD FERGUSON, JOUE CLEOPATRE (FRENCH RELEASE) -- Cameo-Parkway 217 008

Here's Maynard on four tracks from the Cameo era: Anthony and Cleopatra, Blues for a Four String Guitar, Theme from "Naked City," and Groove. The EP disc comes packaged in a FANTASTIC little 7" picture cover EP. The front cover has a picture of Elizabeth Taylor from her Cleopatra movie role. Stunning! This is an EXTREMELY elusive little 45 EP, almost impossible to find. Pricewise, I saw one of these sell in an internet auction for just over $150.00, plus shipping, handling, and insurance!
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, PEOPLE / MACARENA -- Mainstream 603

Here's a quite hard-to-find 45 with two tracks from the LP "Color Him Wild." I just don't see many of these. The come in both red label and white label "DJ" versions.
COPY #1. This one is a white label "DJ" version. Someone wrote "286" on one label in black marker, and there's also a little label damage on the other side, possibly from sticker removal. So the labels definitely have issues. The vinyl itself is much nicer, and rates an EX to EX+. Due to the label problems, this otherwise hard-to-find 45 is just $4.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MACARENA PART 1 / MACARENA PART 2 -- Mainstream 604

Here's an absolutely RARE white label DJ 45 with the track "Macarena" (from the Color Him Wild LP) broken into two sections -- Part 1 and Part 2. I almost NEVER see one of these! They are ultra, ultra hard-to-find. If I have one, grab it while you can. I have seen this come two different ways. TYPE 1 is a white label but DOES NOT say PROMO/NFS. TYPE 2 is a white label and DOES say PROMO/NFS. Specialists will want both types.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MAC ARTHUR PARK / ELI'S COMIN' -- Columbia 4-45352

Here's Maynard on two tracks from the MF Horn LP. These are INCREDIBLY RARE little 45s. They come in both the normal red label version, and a blue label promo version. It's hard to say which label-type is rarer, but both are VERY hard to obtain. MacArthur park times at 2:42, and Eli's Comin' times at 2:19 on this 45.
COPY #1. This is the normal red label version. The vinyl is very nice, with the only problems being a little light scuffing and ultra fine surface scratches in a couple of places. I played it, and other than a little of the background noise typical of these 45s, it played great. Let's call it EX++. Due to its rarity, $15.00.
COPY #2. The is the normal red label version. The labels are clean and nice, but the vinyl has quite a few very fine surface scratches. This causes it to play with some definite background noise in places. I'm going to call this one EX-. Just $8.00.
COPY #3. This is the normal red label version. The labels are super clean and nice -- like new. The vinyl has several visible scuffs. I test played it, and it plays better than it looks -- really great. I'm going to rate it as EX++. It's yours for $15.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MAC ARTHUR PARK / BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATERS (UK RELEASE) -- CBS S 8093

Here's Maynard on one track from The UK World of Maynard Ferguson (MF Horn) LP and one track from the UK Alive and Well in London (Maynard Ferguson) LP. This is an INCREDIBLY RARE UK-only 45. It comes as both a white label promo release with a large orange "A", and as a normal orange label release. Unlike the U.S. 45 of MacArthur Park above, this one times at 4:00, and Bridge times at 2:57. Quite rare!
COPY #1. This is first copy of this rare little 45 I've ever had for sale on this website. It's the white label version. The labels on this one are super clean and nice, and the vinyl rates an EX+. It retains its original, slightly wrinkled, generic CBS UK paper sleeve. For the discriminating collector, this one is $15.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, INVITATION/SWAMP (ITALIAN RELEASE) -- CBS 4359

Here's a 7" 45 RPM release with Maynard on two tracks from the Primal Scream LP, housed in a 7" picture cover which looks almost like the 12" LP cover. These were released in Italy ONLY, to the best of my knowledge. These are INCREDIBLY RARE little 45s, released in 1976. The covers are very thin paper, so usually show a little wrinkling in places. Very, VERY hard to find!!!!!
COPY #1. This one is in the original picture sleeve, and the sleeve is very nice and clean, with just a few of the very light wrinkles that are typical of this sleeve. It's NMINT. The vinyl has nice clean labels, and is in great condition. NMINT-. Overall, this copy is NMINT- to NMINT. Due to its rarity, $25.00.
COPY #2. The picture sleeve on this one is clean and nice, with just the typical very light surface wrinkles in a few spots. It's NMINT. The vinyl has nice clean labels, and is in super condition -- NMINT to NMINT+!!! Overall, this copy is NMINT to NMINT+. Due to its rarity, $30.00.
COPY #3. Here's another one folks. The cover on this one is NMINT. The disc is NMINT+! Really stunning. So this one is in super condition -- NMINT to NMINT+!!! Due to its rarity, $30.00.
COPY #4. I've been working hard to find these. The cover on this one is NMINT. The disc is NMINT+!!! A super copy of this rare 45, it's $30.00.
COPY #5. The cover on this copy has quite a few light creases and some definite record ring wear. I'd rate it as EX-. The disc is EX+. Overall, a solid copy, but with some minor flaws. It's just $7.00.
COPY #6. The picture cover is missing from this copy. Too bad, as that's where most of the value is in this 45. The disc has clean and nice labels and the vinyl is NMINT-. Due to the missing cover, it's just $3.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, INVITATION/PAGLIACCI (U.K. RELEASE) -- CBS S CBS 4292

Here's a 7" 45 RPM release with Maynard on two tracks from the Primal Scream LP. It's incredibly hard to find! Pressed in the U.K., there is no U.S. counterpart to this 45. They come with a small spindle hole. If I ever have one, grab it while you can!
NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, PAGLIACCI (SHORT VERSION, LONG VERSION, U.K. RELEASE) -- CBS S CBS 4292

Here's a 7" 45 RPM white label promo release with Maynard on the track Pagliacci from the Primal Scream LP. It's incredibly hard to find! Pressed in the U.K., there is no U.S. counterpart to this 45. The short D.J. version is on one side (4:28) and a longer version (5:55) is on the other side. They come with a small spindle hole. If I ever have one, grab it while you can!

MAYNARD FERGUSON, GONNA FLY NOW / THE FLY -- Columbia 3-10468

The 45 rpm single of Gonna Fly Now (Theme from "Rocky") back by The Fly. A must for every MF collection.
COPY #1. The labels on this one are clean and nice. The vinyl is EX. Overall, it's EX. $3.00.
COPY #2. There just a hint of wear on the labels; otherwise, they're quite nice. The vinyl is EX+. Let's call it EX+ overall. $3.00.
COPY #3. There just a hint of wear on the labels; otherwise, they're quite nice. The vinyl is EX. Let's call it EX overall. $3.00.
COPY #4. The labels are clean and nice. There's just a tiny wrinkle in the side B label. (It came from the factory that way.) The vinyl is very, very nice. Overall it's NMINT-. $4.00.
COPY #5. There just a hint of wear on the labels; otherwise, they're quite nice. The vinyl is NMINT-. Overall, NMINT-. $4.00.
COPY #6. The labels are clean and nice. The vinyl is NMINT. Overall, NMINT. $5.00.
COPY #7. There's a little ring wear on the labels on this copy (although it's very light). The vinyl is NMINT. Due to that light ring wear, let's call it NMINT- overall. Yours for $4.00.
COPY #8. The vinyl on this copy is NMINT, but the labels look a little bubbled in a couple of places. Thus, let's rate it EX. $3.00.
COPY #9. This one is EX, with clean and nice labels. $3.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, GONNA FLY NOW (BOTH SIDES) -- Columbia 3-10468

The is the WHITE LABEL PROMO 45 rpm single of Gonna Fly Now (Theme from "Rocky"). The normal orange label copy is the most common on the MF 45s. But, on the contrary, this white label version is relatively rare. Jump on it if you don't already have one!
COPY #1. This one has clean and nice labels, but the vinyl has quite a few surface marks, just VG+ to EX-. $4.00.
COPY #2. This copy has clean and nice labels, and the vinyl is is NMINT! Really nice. $7.00.
COPY #3. This copy is nearly flawless, but someone wrote "2/77" in small letters on one side of the label. Too bad, instead of NMINT+, it's reduced to just NMINT. $7.00.
COPY #4. The labels on this copy are just pristine! The vinyl is NMINT+! Just an outstanding copy! $8.00.
COPY #5. The labels on this one are clean and nice. The vinyl is NMINT, tending to NMINT+. Yours for $7.50.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, GONNA FLY NOW / THE FLY (CANADIAN PRESSING) -- Columbia 3-10468

The 45 rpm single of Gonna Fly Now (Theme from "Rocky"). A must for every MF collection, and this one is special, in that it's the Candian pressing. The label is distinctly different from the U.S. version. Quite hard to find, and 10 times rarer than the U.S. version.
COPY #1. This is a great copy, with super clean labels and vinyl that's NMINT-. It's in an original (but wrinkled) CBS Canada paper sleeve. $7.00.
COPY #2. This is a super copy. The Side A label has a VERY small abrasion from the removal of a price sticker -- hardly noticeable. The vinyl is in NMINT condition, in an original CBS Canada paper sleeve. $8.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, GONNA FLY NOW / THE FLY (GERMAN PRESSING) -- CBS S 5106

The 45 rpm single of Gonna Fly Now (Theme from "Rocky"). A must for every MF collection, and this one is special, in that it's a German pressing. It comes in a paper picture cover with the words "CBS-Blitzinformation" at the top front of the cover and text in German. It's a white label promo disc. Quite hard to find, and maybe 20 times rarer than the U.S. version.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is NMINT. The vinyl rates a NMINT. A truly nice NMINT copy of this rare German pressing. $12.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, GONNA FLY NOW / THE FLY (ITALIAN PRESSING) -- CBS-Sugar 5025

The 45 rpm single of Gonna Fly Now (Theme from "Rocky"). A must for every MF collection, and this one is special, in that it's the Italian pressing. This version has a picture cover that's maroonish-brown in color, with the graphics in white print. It's very, very rare.
COPY #1. Just in, this is the first copy of this 45 I've ever had for sale. It's truly rare! The cover on this one, which is paper, has a split at the center of each of the three seams. There's a minor tear on the front, and some ring wear, front and back. Actually, the cover looks pretty nice, considering the many little problems. The disc itself has writing in red ink on one label, and writing in green crayon on the other label. The vinyl is POOR! It's really trashed. So if you buy this one, no guarantees about the playback quality. It will be awful and will probably skip. (My cartridge isn't going to touch it, so I can't tell you for sure how bad it is.) I'm pricing this one just for the cover alone, since it's half-decent, at $3.00. If you're a completist, I'd suggest you get it, as another one might never come along.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, GONNA FLY NOW / THE FLY (JAPANESE PRESSING) -- CBS/Sony 06SP 150

The 45 rpm single of Gonna Fly Now (Theme from "Rocky"). A must for every MF collection, and this one is special, in that it's the Japanese pressing. The Japanese version has a picture cover insert with silhouettes of Rocky and Adrian, as well as a photo of MF with a reversed negative, looking like he's playing a left-handed trumpet. (Why don't they get a trumpet player to LOOK AT these covers before they release them?) Anyway, this is a rare one!
COPY #1. The front paper insert on this one has a "thin" at upper right where a sticker was removed. It affects the design a bit, and reduces an otherwise pristine insert to just EX. The disc labels are absolutely pristine, and the vinyl is NMINT-. Overall, let's call this one a slightly flawed EX+. Just $15.00.
COPY #2. The front paper on this copy is a super clean and nice NMINT+. It's almost like new. The labels on the disc are pristine, and the vinyl is NMINT. Overall, this is a super NMINT to NMINT+ copy. It's $20.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, GONNA FLY NOW / THE FLY (JAPANESE PRESSING - WHITE LABEL PROMO VERSION) -- CBS/Sony 06SP 150

This is the WHITE LABEL PROMO version of the disc above. Just ultra rare!!!
COPY #1. The front paper on this copy is a super clean and nice NMINT+. It's almost like new. The labels on the disc are pristine, and the vinyl is NMINT. Overall, this is a super NMINT to NMINT+ copy. It's $22.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, GONNA FLY NOW / THE FLY (NEW ZEALAND PRESSING) -- CBS BA 461754

This is the 45 RPM single of Gonna Fly Now (Theme from "Rocky"), backed with The Fly. A must for every MF collection, and this one is special, in that it's the New Zealand pressing. Very, very hard to find!

This is the 45 RPM single of Gonna Fly Now (Theme from "Rocky"), backed with the Theme from Star Wars. This Argentine version is extremely rare. I've only seen a couple, and this is the first copy I've had for sale on the website. A must for every MF collection. Very, very hard to find, especially here in North America!
COPY #1. This is a DEMONSTRATION COPY and has the words "DISCO PARA DEMOSTRACION VENTA PROHIBIDA" no the label. That makes it super rare. It comes in a factory CBS sleeve. The disc labels are clean and nice, and the disc itself is a clean and nice EX. It's yours for $18.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, VOY A VOLAR AHORA, TEMA DE ROCKY /LA MOSCA (SPANISH PRESSING) -- CBS 5106

COPY #1. The cover on this one is pretty nice. There's a little surface wear visible on the front, and a little light staining on the back, apparently from moisture, but it's not bad. I'd rate the cover as EX. The disc labels are clean and nice, and the disc itself is a very clean and nice NMINT-. Overall, this copy is EX+. It's yours for $15.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MARIA (FROM WEST SIDE STORY) / OASIS -- Columbia 3-10678

This is a white label promo copy intended for radio station use. A rare Ferguson 45. (Note that this is NOT the AE7 1152 issue of this 45.)
COPY #1. This copy has a few surface marks, and although it plays great, I'll be conservative and reduce it to an EX+ rating. The label is clean and nice. $8.00.
COPY #2. This one has a few extremely light surface marks, which reduces it to EX+ condition, although it plays great. The labels are very clean and nice. $8.00.
COPY #3. The labels on this copy are just pristine! The vinyl is easily NMINT! Yours for $9.00.
COPY #4. The labels on this one show several light brown spots on each side. Looks like the factory glue has seeped through the labels in places. The disc is a super clean NMINT to NMINT+. Due to the spots on the label, this one is just $4.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, MARIA (FROM WEST SIDE STORY) / OASIS -- Columbia AE7 1152

This is a white label promo copy intended for radio station use. A relatively rare Ferguson 45. (Note that this is NOT the 3-10678 issue of this 45.)
COPY #1. This one grades out at EX. A pretty nice copy, but some surface marks on the vinyl. Still, well worth $5.00.
COPY #2. The label on this one is beautiful, but someone wrote "Mellow Jazz" in blue ink on the "Maria" side. The vinyl is SUPER. It looks never-played. NMINT+. Due to the small ink problem, instead of $30.00, just $6.00.
COPY #3. The label on this one looks great on the "Oasis" side, but on the "Maria" side, there's a water stain and a word written in red marker pen (can't make out what it says). The vinyl is NMINT- to NMINT. However, due to the damaged label, I'll rate this one as just EX-. Just $3.00.
COPY #4. The labels on this one are clean and nice, with no damage of any kind. The vinyl is super -- NMINT+!! $13.00.
COPY #5. The labels on this copy are ultra clean and nice -- like new! The vinyl is NMINT. Yours for $12.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON / RONNIE MILSAP, WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT -- TRAV MA 1167

The interesting 45 was produced by TRAV in Atlanta, Georgia for the Presbyterian Church in th U.S. It consists of two radio programs, one per side. On the first side of the disc, program 421, host Bill Huie interviews Ronnie Milsap and plays some of his tunes. On the second side, program 422, Mr. Huie interviews Maynard, and plays some of his tunes. Both sides were intended for play in May, 1978. As you can imagine, these 45s are ULTRA rare. I've only seen a handful of them.
SORRY! NO COPIES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, ROCKY II ... KNOCKOUT (SHORT VERSION ON ONE SIDE, LONG VERSION ON OTHER SIDE) -- Columbia 3-11037

This is a white label promo copy. The long version is 4:09; the short version is 3:40. It was intended for radio station airplay. I found a dealer who had apparently gotten a box full of these at one time or another, and I bought him out.
COPY #1. Unfortunately, the DJ wrote a couple of "X"es and the date "8/79" in blue ink on the label on the long version side of this 45. Ouch! With the ink, the price drops a bit. Otherwise, this copy is NMINT-. $5.00.

COPY #9. The labels on this copy are PRISTINE! The vinyl is NMINT+!!! Just a super copy. $9.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, ROCKY II DISCO / GABRIEL (CANADIAN RELEASE) -- Columbia 3-11037

COPY #1. Just in, this is the first copy of this relatively rare little 45 that I've found in a very long time. The front picture insert is NMINT+. The disc comes in the original Sony paper sleeve and the disc itself is NMINT+. A beautiful NMINT+ copy, it's $18.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, THEME FROM STAR TREK / TOPA-TOPA WOMAN -- Columbia 1-11151

COPY #1. Here's a nice, clean NMINT copy, with near-perfect labels, in an original Columbia dust jacket. $12.00.
COPY #2. Here's a nice, clean NMINT copy, with near-perfect labels, in an original Columbia dust jacket. $12.00.

This is a white label DJ copy. Theme from Star Trek The Motion Picture is on both sides of this 45. THIS IS A DIFFERENT TRACK FROM THE 1-11151 disc above. It does not appear on an LP. This is a white label DJ copy. It's My Time is on both sides of this 45. This is a very hard-to-find 45. Don't be left out if you don't have a copy of this little gem!
COPY #1. Just in, this is the first copy of this relatively rare little 45 that I've had in some time. It's got super clean and nice labels, and the vinyl is NMINT. It's $12.00.
COPY #2. Just in, this one has a small stain, hardly visible, on one side of the label. Otherwise, the labels are super clean and nice. The vinyl is EX-. It's $7.00.

MAYNARD FERGUSON, DANCE TO YOUR HEART (BOTH SIDES) -- Columbia 1-11411

Of all the Columbia 45s, this was the last to be issued and is perhaps the rarest. I seldom see a copy. It's a white label DJ copy with Dance to Your Heart is on both sides, timing at 3:34. This is a VERY hard-to-find 45. In fact, I'll go out on a limb and call it rare. I don't think more than a few hundred were ever made, and I've only seen less than a handful. Don't be left out if you don't have a copy!
COPY #1. Just in, the labels on this copy are clean and nice, and the vinyl is NMINT. It's yours for $25.00.
COPY #2. This one is relatively clean and nice, with NMINT- labels and VINYL. Yours for $22.00.

The labels on this one are absolutely pristine, and the vinyl is a super clean NMINT, tending to NMINT+. This rare little gem, in outstanding condition, is yours for $27.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, FUNKACO (BRAZILIAN RELEASE) -- Epic 22.510

This is a 1982 Brazilian picture cover EP with four tracks: Wide Shot by Superior Movement, Don't Sop 'Til You Get Enough by Maynard Ferguson, Hold Me Tighter in the Rain by Billy Griffin, and Lite Me Up! by Herbie Hancock. Wow! The MF tune, of course, comes from the Hollywood LP. The picture cover shows photos of all four artists, and the credits are on the back. These are exceptionally hard to find. I've only seen a handful, ever.
COPY #1. Just in, this is the very first copy of this rare little EP I've ever had for sale on the website. The cover on this one shows just a bit of record ring wear on the front, and a bit of wear is visible on the back, too, along with a purple rubber-stamped image which is illegible, and probably applied at the factory. I'd rate this cover as EX. The disc itself is a clean and nice NMINT. Overall, this is an EX+ to NMINT- copy, and it's $22.00.
