Here's Maynard's first album after the Columbia era. It's gotten mixed reviews over the years, but the track "Take the 'A' Train" is absolutely THE best version of this tune ever recorded -- not withstanding Duke Ellington's original treatment. It's absolutely mind blowing fantastic, and the entire cost of the LP is worth it for this track alone.
COPY #1. The cover on this one has a couple of very light creases. It's still a super clean and nice cover, and rates at least a NMINT-. The vinyl has a few very light surface scratches that won't affect play in any significant way. Let's call it EX. Overall, this copy rates an EX+. $7.00.

Here's the DIGITAL SUPERDISC verion of Maynard's first album after the Columbia era. It's gotten mixed reviews over the years, but the track "Take the 'A' Train" is absolutely THE best version of this tune ever recorded -- not withstanding Duke Ellington's original treatment. It's absolutely mind blowing fantastic, and the entire cost of the LP is worth it for this track alone. This Nautilus version is very hard to find, and normally sells in the $35.00 - $40.00 range for a NMINT copy.
COPY #1. The cover on this one is really trashed. It's got a large core hole up upper right, and there is a torn and missing spot on the right edge along the opening slit. There's also some overall surface wear. So the cover is just POOR. The vinyl, on the other hand, is quite nice, with just a little scuffing in a couple of places. It's EX+ to NMINT-. If you already have a nice cover and are looking to upgrade the vinyl, this is the copy for you. Or if you just want to HEAR it, not look at it, then you're equally a candidate to pick up this nice record. Just $3.00, due to the POOR cover.

Here's Maynard on the second album after the Columbia years. It was recorded live at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco on May 27, 1983. He plays with renewed gusto!
COPY #1. The cover on this copy is NMINT. The vinyl is NMINT to NMINT+. A great copy, conservatively rated as NMINT. $8.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one would be NMINT, but there's a little roughness on the spine. Let's call the cover NMINT-, overall. The vinyl is EX+. Overall, this copy is EX++. $7.00.
COPY #3. The cover on this one shows just a little spine wear in a couple of places. Otherwise, it's a fantastic copy. It's still NMINT- to NMINT. The vinyl is pristine -- NMINT to NMINT+. Overall, this is easily a NMINT copy, and might be slightly better. $8.00.
COPY #4. The cover on this copy has a very minor bend on the tip of the lower left corner. Otherwise, it's like new, and still rates a NMINT. The vinyl has some light, parallel surface scratches on side 1, but side 2 is almost like new. I'd rate it as EX+. Overall, this copy is in the NMINT- range. It's $7.00.
MAYNARD FERGUSON, BODY & SOUL -- Black-Hawk BKH 50101-1 D
The 1986 LP.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy has one or two very light creases near the top edge of the front cover, and there's a 1/2" by 3" spot at bottom center that shows some wear where a sticker was removed. Let's call the cover EX, since otherwise it's ultra clean and nice. The vinyl has a stain (from sticker removal) on one side, and has "ELKHART PUBLIC LIBRARY" stamped on the other. The disc itself is a bit cloudy, and it's pretty well-played. I'd rate the disc as EX-. As I recall, someone sold me this copy as NMINT! Frustrating. Anyway, it's truthfully in the EX- to EX range, with numerous small problems. So it's yours for just $2.00.

This is the fantastic jazz fusion album High Voltage. This is the U.S. pressing. (Look for the Canadian pressing, too. It has catalog number RG-73279.)

COPY #3. This one was sealed when I got it, but I could see some creases under the shrink wrap, so I removed the shrink wrap for inspection. There are creases in the cover at upper right and lower right. There's a factory sticker on the front, at bottom left that says "Original ANALOG Studio Recording." There's a factory sticker on the back that says "Maynard Ferguson, High Voltage." This is the way it was packaged. Due to the creases, even though the cover is otherwise MINT, let's call this one EX+. The vinyl is pristine, MINT, never played. $5.00.
