Perez Prado LPs with Maynard Ferguson

PEREZ PRADO AND HIS ORCHESTRA, VOODOO SUITE -- RCA Victor LPM-1101

MF and Shorty Rogers appear on this great Perez Prado LP from 1955. This is a very popular LP with the "lounge" crowd, and as such, it's pretty hard to find a nice copy anymore. You can definitely hear Maynard blowing away on some of the more stratospheric measures of this LP! It's a classic, Latin Jazz LP.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy has had a 1" seam crack at bottom center carefully repaired with clear tape. There's also a bend in the bottom right corner. Due to these two issues, it's just EX. The vinyl is pretty nice -- NMINT-. Overall, this copy is EX+. $8.00.
COPY #2. The cover on this one is relatively clean and nice. There's a 1" seam split at upper right, and a little bit of wear present in places, but it's still an EX to EX+ cover. The vinyl is likewise EX+. Overall, this one is a nice, solid EX+. It's yours for $8.00.

VARIOUS ARTISTS, POP SHOPPER -- RCA Victor SPL-12-13

Here's an interesting RCA compilation LP from 1955 that includes the track Voodoo Suite (Part 1) with Perez Prado. These must have been released in extremely limited quantities, because I've seen only about three copies in all these years. The front cover has images of the 12 LPs from which these tunes are taken.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy has clean and nice front paper. All three sides (boths seams and the spine), however, have had neat repairs performed to them due to cracking. There's also a 1" crack in the font cover running from the middle of the opening slit into the body of the front cover. The back has some definite toning and age-related problems. So this cover, although it looks NMINT- from the front, is only VG-. The vinyl, however, is a solid EX++. Overall, this copy is maybe VG++ to EX-. It's just $10.00.

PEREZ PRADO AND HIS ORCHESTRA, HAVANA 3 A.M. -- RCA Victor LPM-1257

MF appears on this LP with the great Perez Prado. It's typical, but great, Latin jazz from the 1950s. Tracks include La Comparsa, Desconfianza, La Faraona, Besame Mucho, The Freeway Mambo, Granada, etc. A must for every serious MF collection.
COPY #1. The cover on this copy has a bit of record ring wear, front and back. There's also a bit of edge wear, a 2" seam split at upper right, and a 1.5" spine crack at bottom center. On the back, there's a little water stain at bottom center. All this adds up to a flawed, but still decent cover. EX-. The vinyl has quite a few light surface scratches, and they can definitely be heard on playback as backgound noise. I'd rate it as GD+ to VG-. Overall, this copy is VG -- just average. It's yours for $4.00.

PEREZ PRADO AND HIS ORCHESTRA, LATIN SATIN -- RCA Victor LPM-1459

I'm not an authority on this particular LP, but I understand Maynard definitely plays on it. (If anyone can provide me with more complete discographical information, I'd appreciate it!) Sorry I don't know more at this time! GREAT Latin jazz!
