BALMOCHNYKH BIDS ADIEU TO QUEBEC
Following his team’s gold-medal performance at the world juniors in
Winnipeg,
MAXIM BALMOCHNYKH has decided to return to Russia to finish honing his
hockey
skill. Balmochnykh had been playing with the Quebec Remparts in the
QMJHL this
season, but felt, after the tournament, that his skills were
deteriorating on
the smaller North American ice. The 19-year-old was drafted by the
Mighty Ducks
of Anaheim in the 1997 Entry Draft. He had 9 goals and 22 assists in
just 21
games with the Remparts this season. He is expected to join Dynamo
Moscow when
play begins this weekend.
