Species 8472
Species 8472
The U.S.S. Voyager entered Borg territory on Stardate 50984.3.
They discovered that the Borg were up against a new enemy, known
as Species 8472. Species 8472 are a race of telepathic beings
who come from a place where they are alone, and nothing else lives
there. Their only desire is to conquer, and there is no negotiating
with them.
They travel in organic ships (known as bio-ships) through quantum singularities into the Delta Quadrant.
Wherever Species 8472 came from, their ships use warp propulsion with anti-matter technology. Inside the ship,
there are organic conduits which carry an Electro-dynamic fluid. This quite possibly could be an energy source.
There is also a binary matrix laced with neural peptides, which could be their idea of a computer core. The
biomass ships have the ability to regenerate themselves.
Their cells and DNA are so complex that anything that goes through the cell membrane are instantly destroyed.
Therefore, the Borg have been unable to assimilate them. If they touch you, your body is immediately infected with
an alien virus. It attacks you at a microscopic level, rearranging your DNA and essentially eating you from the
inside out. The victim will be conscious during this process because all sedatives and other treatments to the
infection are neutralized immediately.
Species 8472 are very powerful, and one bio-ship can destroy approx. 13 Borg cubes at once or 46 star fleet ships. 10 of these
bio-ships can group together and form a circle (with one ship in the center) to create one large weapon capable of
obliterating a whole planet. They have launched massive attacks on the Borg at least 12 times, and have
eradicated hundreds of Borg ships and a few planets.
So far, the only way to stop Species 8472 is with modified Borg nano-probes which could attack the alien cells
before the cells have a chance to destroy the nano-probes. This was developed by the holographic doctor(EMH) on board
the U.S.S. Voyager. Which was trying to past by, at the moment.
