Duchess' Picture Page
This page is devoted to my cat, Duchess. She is a prim little miss with all the noble bearing of her name. The background is an excellent example of her breed. They're small, graceful cat with a luminous silvery-grey coat (it seems almost metallic) and emerald/golden eyes (dependent on lighting).
My Duchess is small by most people's standards, she weighs a meager eight pounds, has a delicate triangular face and is a quiet cat. Many people think that Russian Blues are unfriendly, but I've learned from experience that this simply isn't so. Duchess has people she likes, those are the people she displays affection to, then there's everyone else - whom she avoids.
She dislikes being by herself. If I'm home, she insists on being in the same room as me. She doesn't seem to need to be held or touch, she seems to find my presence enough. She's a playful cat, an attentive cat and she's definitely fluent in English (a family member once said, "Go get Audra to let you out." She immediately came to me, rubbing my legs in an attempt to get outside.) She is a soft-spoken cat, her purr is quiet and she rarely meows. In fact, she was well over two years old before she meowed for the first time (that was after our new neighbour moved next door with his two Siamese.)
Duchess glaring up at me. This picture was taken during the Christmas season. Her Grace doesn't like having her picture taken as you can see. She's not a very big cat, she weighs about seven and a half pounds and isn't even as long as my forearm.
This is Duchess' favorite pose. Sitting with her tail wrapped around her paws. I was in shock that she actually sat still while I snapped this picture. Most of my pictures of her are of her hind end since she absolutely despises cameras and I only got this picture because I was holding a cat treat.
This is her "will you leave me alone!" pose. As you can see I have a real friendly looking cat.
