august update My life has become a mad swirl of events, and people, and memories. So much so that I can no longer keep a daily diary. But here are a few entries from my journal most of them un-dated.
The novelty of returning home after a mighty long absence has worn off. I feel like an old prairie boy again. As though I had never left. My old accent is beginning to rise in my throat. Old habits are resurfacing. Old thoughts dusted off. I am thinking of staying here, living here for the rest of my days, start a little business, get a little wife, be a pillar of the community. I think I'll start looking at spice racks tomorrow.
When it is time to "Meet The Parents" I believe one should do it the way Sid Vicious met Nancy Spungen's parents in the movie SID AND NANCY...wearing black leather pants, no shirt, and well fortified by vitamin V, a hefty bottle of Russia's best...maybe even spring for some coke...How more honest can you be than to show them at your worst? It's all up hill after that. Trust me. I know these things.
The important thing is to believe in this heart and soul. I told Denise all this and she had a hairy conniption! It was bad enough that her mom was only four years older than me and her dad seven years...but to show up drooling like a stumblebum drunk on their pristine doorstep was to much of a concept to handle...
But Denise is a sharp chick she devised a way for us to meet...by chance... or so it seems...I like her parents. Her mom is kinda hot, kinda wow and would be even hotter if she weren't so boring. But her dad likes fishing. They sit around after supper and make it a point to discuss daily current events. Like a real family. And what else is there to discuss but Clinton and that tart?
