Shadows

Shadows

The thoughts came into her head in the middle of the night, so she reached over to touch him. And maybe they had come to him too, because he had started without her. She covered his hand with hers and gently eased him away from himself with her mouth. He relaxed and settled into a comfortable position. She began going at a slow steady pace like she meant to make it last a while. He fixed his eyes on certain familiar shadows on the ceiling that he often pondered upon on nights that he couldn't sleep. His favorite one is made by the windchime she has hanging on the curtain. When the window is open, the shadow moves in harmony with the chimes. It is almost mesmerizing. But that night he imagined the shapes to be different parts of her body. As she caressed and fondled him with her tongue, in his mind the shadows began to move and he began to put them together like a puzzle to form her body. And when it was finished, it was an exact duplicate of her, he wanted to reach out and touch it, but it was all just his imagination. She was bringing him up to a point but he wanted it to last longer, so he reached over his head and turned on the lamp. She was startled and stopped to look up at him. He was smiling at her. He reached out his hand and whispered 'Come here'. He pulled her up to him and kissed her wet lips. He kissed her until he could feel her response grow more passionate. He rolled her over onto her back and sat up. She looked up at him and pouted. She wanted him to continue. He ran his finger slowly between her breast, along her rib cage and down to her belly button. She reached her hand up and placed it behind his head. She gently tried to pull him toward her as she whispered 'Come back'. He closed his eyes for a moment and remembered his mental shadow picture of her. When he opened his eyes again she was still there, as he had pictured her, just lying there and looking up at him. He felt a bit choked with emotion, he loved her so much. She sensed something in him and asked him what was wrong. 'Nothing', he whispered and after a brief pause, he then smiled and said 'I just wanted to look at you'.
