When we last spoke with DJ Theo Extreme, he was fresh off the release of
his first album. Now one month later he has released a new EP entitled
"A Theo Of Your Very Own".

What's new on this EP?

The songs on this EP are unlike any of the stuff on my previous releases.
Take the last album for example, every song featured two bass synths, and
two drum machines. The sound on those releases where all hopping, with lots
of fancy effects and knob tweaking. This EP is more stripped down, most of
the songs use one synth, and one drum machine and a few samples. And I
turned the bass up on this recording, as much as I hate lots of bass in
music. It's something new I just had to try.

Will the sound of this album end up on the next album?

Definetly not. That album will continue from where "This Album..." left
off, but with a better sound...like having faster songs, with better beats,
and more bass.

One of your pet peeves is very bassy music, why is that?

Don't get me wrong, I like bass. But there are a few things I hate about
overdriven bass. #1, recordings with too much bass destroy headphones. I
had a pair of $120 studio headphones that one of the speakers inside died
because of there was too much bass, and these headphones where made to last.
I had a pair of light weight studio headphones, same thing. I've even
blown out speakers and killed guitar amps because of bassy music. Bassy
music also makes me feel sick. I was at a Metallica concert last summer and
I was on the grass in "cheap" $35 area. The bass was so loud that it shook
myself, and the ground beneath my feet. I got all dizzy, and nearly puke on
the people infront of me. It was either the music, or because the pot smoke
from the people in front of me was blowing directly into my face. I even
get sick from listening to bassy music through headphones.

What ever happened to your colabaration with Punky of the FuzzMen?

We don't have anytime to get our asses together. Punky is busy with his
band working on their next album, and him being the main songwriter he just
has no time.

Will you be producing their next album?

No, I've decided to cut the ropes and let them think for themselves. On
their last album, me being the only one who knew how to work the digital
recording system, I ended up doing most of the work. But that's okay, I
had nothing better to do.

You know it, I know it. The FuzzMen like to keep to themselves and they
don't even want people to know who they are. Because of that they never talk
to the media. Could I just ask you few FuzzMen questions?

Sure.

How many songs where recorded for the last album?.

The album had seven song son it, but 13 where recorded. Those songs where
either lost, or they where rejected in the end.

Where did they get the idea to record an experimental album?.

Well, the album started out as a Fat Boy Slim type album. But in the end,
it turned out to be mostly experimental. The guys got the idea from listening
to underground noise and experimental bands like Satanic Cancer Machine,
Aabout-Phase (*editor's note* pronounced about face), F...T.L (*editor's
note* also known as Fuck... That's Loud), and The Teenaged Welfare Mothers.
They use the same, lift technique and they just copied it.

What is this "lift technique" all about?

Well, if you listen to Fat Boy Slim, Crystal Method, and the Chemical
Brothers, just to name a few you may notice that all of their music is
sampled. After that, they loop it, change it, and mess around with it.
Lifting is a lot like that, except there is no fancy drum beat, or fancy
fancy effects.

We're constantly hearing rumours about a brake up, or a pending brake up.
What's up with that?.

Will the guys are just lazy and they don't play well with others. Take
Sticks, if anyone says that his ideas won't work he'll get up, leave, and
not comeback until three days later. Billy, well he just does what he's
told to. Punky on the other hand is the Hitler of the group. He's the real
reason Happy, and Les quit, they just couldn't take anymore of his shit.
The reason Happy left was because Happy would write the songs, but Punky
would be the one playing the track. Les let because quite frankly he
couldn't get along with Punky period. Punky seems like a nice guy, but once
you spend 5 hours in a studio with him where he's the boss, you see what
kind of ass he truly is.

Do you still manage the FuzzMen?

No. I severed all ties to the group, they're on my label and that's it.

What is this business with the FuzzMen leaving Lamestain when their contract
is up?

The FuzzMen, actually just Punky has expressed concern about their placement
in the labels priorities. They feel they don't get half as much exposore
as T>T>M>X or myself. They don't understand that because they don't even
keep me informed as to whats going on with the band, or because they've
only released one album, there's nothing promote. But we'll see in
April. But I can tell you for sure, if there hasn't been an attempt at penning
or recording new FuzzMen material, the contract will expire without
negotiation.

NOTE: A day after this interview was printed, the FuzzMen broke up.
