The GENERAL CONTEXT of such use is:
The term refers to that knowledge or KNOWING which we gain from each other. In the ideal case, all such "learning" would be Socratic, where each one "learns" from each other, that which it is opportune and appropriate for the individual to "know" (appropriate to one's destiny, as determined by the Self).
Of course, in the further idealization, each person of mature mind CAN , as necessary, access that KNOWING which is theirs to "know" DIRECTLY - IF one is sufficiently adept IN the ability OF the mature mind to transcend itSelf and "travel" interdimensionally. In the actual case (of present-day society), learning is more so the "programming" which "vested interests" would so have us to learn and to "be", in conformance with and in protection OF those "vested interests" and their interests (the status quo).
