Okay, here's my answer to that. Yes, I write about people, society and
the things people do, and who and what they are (or "think" they are!), and
such. And that is fine with me, because, after all, most people DO need to
see and hear "something different", than what they "get" everyday, or all
their lives, and what they think is "reality". And if they find themselves
"hurt", and get "mad", because I am "hurting" their feelings, sensitivities
or, more likely, their "programming"...Well, all the much better, as far as
I am concerned. So, if I DO make one or two persons "mad" at me, THEN I'll really worry.
Because if only one or two people are "mad" at me, it certainly MUST be my
fault...I'm obviously doing something wrong. BUT, if I make EVERYONE "mad"
at me...Well, then I can relax, because then I know I'm doing it "right".
One of my professors, back in graduate school, Father Dingus, said something
once that I will always remember..."If you make one person mad at you,
you're obviously not telling the "truth", or else it's not being
sufficiently understood or recognized. But if you make everyone mad at you,
THEN you ARE telling the truth, because the truth hurts most people, and
when they start hurting, they'll think you are to blame. But, again, if the
truth you are telling is sufficiently understood, AND it is "cutting close
enough to the bone", most rational, intelligent people will immediately (or,
more likely, eventually) see that it is not you, but it is they, themselves,
who are the "cause" of their "hurt", and THEN they will KNOW that they are
hearing the truth!" And believe me, the TRUTH HURTS! So many people go through life, and
their lives, riding a wave of misconception, deceit, untruth and unknowing,
about what is reality and what is the truth, of their lives and existence.
They "only know" what they have been told, NOT anything that they have found
out for themselves, MUCH LESS who and what they are! So, when I write about
individuals, groups and organizations, etc., here locally in San
Mateo...Yes, I'm also writing about that individual, that group, that
organization, etc., AS THE MIRROR-IMAGE of the same situation IN THE LARGER
SOCIETY - the larger "whole", of humanity. Whether it is Blacks (or A Black,
for example), or Hispanics, Asians, Gays, alcoholics, politicians,
governmental (and police) "officers", OR WHOEVER IT MAY BE...I'm writing
about the SITUATION, the ISSUE, the "problem" - WHATEVER IT MAY BE, but
certainly NOT the, or an, individual. Because, as we all know, each one of us IS a "part of the whole", and we
know (or should know) that we need to respect, accept, cherish and certainly
value, each and every individual, for who and what they are. I certainly DO
respect, and accept, ALL individuals, including Blacks, Hispanics, Asians,
Gays (Hey! Some of my best friends are "gay", and they know that when I am
referring to them, it is not as individuals, but only as a part of the whole
of society), alcoholics (Yes, I know some, and we get along fine!),
politicians (Well..., no further comment to be made here, beyond what has
already been said.), governmental officers (Oh yes, no disrespect to law
enforcement officers intended, as to who and what they are. After all, I do
know of at least one San Mateo County law enforcement officer who
encounters, occasionally, and has to deal with, the homeless, and who is
himself one of the homeless.) But, to repeat the "point" - the issue - it is NOT who and what people
are, but what they DO - and THAT is what I write about, and only IF it needs
commenting upon. And remember, I am speaking, and "judging", ONLY FOR
MYSELF, because I am making "observations" about people and society BASED
UPON MY "perception" of reality, and my understanding thereof (which, as
Mahatma Ghandi has said, is the only thing that he does have, to base HIS
"judgements" and, consequently, ACTIONS, upon.), which I do certainly (as
Ghandi) feel, and KNOW, to be valid and true. And also remember, "Judge NOT,
lest ye be judged, but judge ONLY for thineself ALONE!" SO, that is what I DO! I see, hear, observe, analyze, understand, and
then REPORT, based on what I KNOW. And hopefully, in that "reporting", I can
"touch" the logic, rationale, understanding, and inherent "knowing"...the
humanity, of an individual. THEN, that individual MAY ALSO come to KNOW THE
TRUTH! BUT, it is the truth AS HE/SHE does "see" it... NOT necessarily as I
have related it, or even stated it, as "for" myself. Because, in the final
analysis, ONLY YOU, yourself, KNOW (or shall come to know)who and what you
"are", AND what the "truth" is, FOR YOU! Because, as the principles of
Quantum Physics have shown, as pointed out by all the good scientists who
have postulated such over the decades, WE DO CREATE OUR OWN REALITY, and in
that reality IS the TRUTH, not only of ourselves and our existence, but of
"ALL THAT IS", as well. But also, in that we have all been "created" as
free, individual and unique human beings, the "truth" (and truths) that we
need to "discover", are OURS ALONE - NOT someone else's. THEN, and only
then, can we individually see that "our truth", unique as it is or may be,
IS but part of the whole, of the TRUTH, of the REALITY, of All That Is.
THEN, we shall KNOW ourselves, and we shall know God, however shall we
perceive Him/Her/It (Infinite Consciousness). SO, is anyone "mad" at me yet? I don't know, but if everyone is...Well,
then I am glad. My friends, and the "Man Upstairs", tell me I am speaking
the truth. But I need to hear it also from those whom I wish to "serve", to
help ("Do Unto Others, As you would Have Others Do Unto You!"). So PLEASE,
PLEASE..."Open your windows...", and 'cuss, and scream, and yell...about me,
about Life, Society, or whatever "bugs" you - and then think about it, and
DO SOMETHING about it! Because only in doing so, will you "find" yourself,
AND what you seek! Father Jerome
I think it was the movie entitled "Network", many years ago,
that had a mad news anchor telling the TV audience and viewers, "I've had
it! And if you've had it too...Well, this is what you can do. Get up out of
your chairs, and go to the window...Open the window and yell forth into the
great outdoors, so that your neighbors and everyone can hear......I'VE HAD
IT! I WON'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! I'VE HAD IT!" (or something like that). Well, I
was reminded of that movie the other day, when a friend asked me, "Aren't
you concerned about making people mad at you? You (in effect) 'cuss about,
belittle, and talk (write) about the things people do. Doesn't that make
them mad at you?"
Aum, Peace, Amen!
