I'm discovering that I'm becoming quite agitated by people who take up valuable real estate at the front of the listening center in A&B sound (or future shop or whatever music shop in your neck of the world that has a "listen before you buy" policy) to listen to very popular CD's. Is that weird? I mean, I always assumed in my genuine naiveté that the the listening posts were for people who wanted to actually LISTEN to things they hadn't heard or aren't available for general listening otherwise. I do understand that there are relatively "popular" bands with a lot of other songs on their respective CD's that we may want to check out to see if the whole album is as good as the first few singles we have heard through out associated music outlets, and i'm not talking about that. What I'm talking about is the Idiot in front of me The other week listening to "lightning crashes" (a song over and over and OVERplayed by every music entity known to man) all the while staring blankly at the cover, alone in his wonderness that this is a tune he could have just as easily heard at least 10 times a day a few years ago. I couldn't do that. I could not underclass myself to go over to the very seemingly hip people there and hand over the CD and say "could you play this for me?" while i'm assuming the grateful employee has a duty to plop the over digested pop anthem on the player, he/she has a brain, and looking at them Im thinking they are not too fond of the valuable opportunity of the listening booth being squandered by yokels who just don't seem to get out much.

What were the CD's I listened to that particular outing, you ask? What makes me so musically profound that I feel the need to slam someone who's just following their own musical tastes? On that day they were Oexia and Drill. Oexia was recommended to me by a guy who's on the Mission mailing list like I, and Drill was cuz I loved their song on the Empire records soundtrack ( I didn't buy either of them then, I ordered Drill from CDNow cause it was a better price and Oexia just didn't do it for me)

All this angst is compounded 10x with the fact that I seem to be watching more WWF wrestling than I think I should be for my age. Well it started out that I had nothing better to do sunday afternoons, and picked up the odd hour or 2 of it (brought back mighty fine recollections of My northern Alberta upbringing, renting Wrestlemania 3 at All Star Video cause we didn't have cable, remember this was before the glory days of pay-per view that are now thrust upon us). Well, at least now I just occasionally glance at RAW on monday nights while in chat (Say Hi to Hybrid on Talk City or Sooma/Thessien on EFnet). But really, who am I kidding? I have been known to abandon my computer totally in favour of a half-cocked stare at the glowing mush tube just to get that sacred glimpse at the NEW "Euro-North American jesuit priest Yiddish amputee" midget champion that has newly been crowned (my sincere apologies to all jesuit priests, Yiddish amputees, or midgets out there who have just been offended in this Politically correct age). At least I wasn't scanning all the unofficial fan sites looking to see if Steve Austin beat Shawn Michaels the night of wrestlemania 14 the night it happened on PPV......well, not REALLY anyway......AUGh, gotta go, I think Sable's coming on soon......I tell you, it's like drugs........ : )
