When we fall

(In the name of...)*

Written by: Phil Webster

We are here with a point to show,

but what it is, we'll never know.

Within our leaders we confide,

they goad us forth with diamond lies.

We're told we fight for human rights,

the love of God as freedom's knights.

In the end, it's all swept aside,

by the bloody hands of genocide.

Wars go on and fight we will,

to prove our point and live on still.

I alone know what the killing's for,

and I don't want to see anymore.

Our actions paint a blood-red shroud,

and through it we do our country proud.

I know what I've gone and done,

and I know I'm not the only one.

So as you watch and as you pray,

for our safe return one fine day.

I write these lines here as I lie.

I wonder how many more will have to die.

Why, you ask, do we fight still,

it can seen, they haven't had their fill.

War means money, power and fame,

war means hatred, death and pain.

Look at the ones we send to their fate,

stare at the faces we're forced to hate.

The only thing this war has shown,

is that so many won't ever go home.

Look at the values we follow,

pray for the lives we swallow.

Has anything changed from things before?

Will anything change as we fight on more?

I stand and watch my old friends die,

alone and lonely under a killing sky.

The moon shines and blood begins to run,

as life dances on the end of my gun.

The tears I cry are those of the meek,

the end of this is the peace I seek.

My life, I see, is nothing but war,

and I don't want to kill, anymore.
