He wipes the sweat falling
from the brow upon his face...
And stares into the darkness
listening to the thunder roll.
The flowers he holds are warm
they glisten like his heart in the rain
He walks along and smiles
as he dreams of his love's embrace.
Still smiling, he sees her home
and even the streetlights seem to glow
The door he stands by offers comfort
and to enjoy a moment more, he pauses.
He hears a laugh and looks up
at the star at the centre of his heart
at the perfect creature of his love
And...at the love of another man.
The thunder strikes and light flashes
as her lips crash into another's
And the rain picks up...
and the flowers hit the ground.
Staring at the streetlight
like it offered some support...
He fumbles for the keys
and drives off into the night.
The found him the next morning
sixteen miles up Eaton road
The rain didn't clean away the sorrow
but Rapid River Falls did...
And in the glow if a streetlight
she awakes beside her lover
She steps through the door,
and spies a dozen roses...
Covered in dew...
