This album of 10 songs describes stages in the spiritual journey. Many of the songs were composed in Greece on the return journey from India in 1987. The term "alchemy" used to describe the magical process of transforming base metals into gold, also has an allegorical meaning. Many sufi poets and writers used the term to refer to the process of "cleansing the heart" and the transformation of the consciousness of the individual through spiritual discipline aided by the "grace" or baraka of the teacher and the spiritual lineage.
