TINAMBAQUEÑO TAKES HELM OF BCSDC

Al.jpgIn a historic twist of fate, Al Villamora, who was recently elected Mayor of Tinambac Association of California, ran unopposed and was acclaimed President of the Bicol Club of San Diego County. Originally from Tinambac, Camarines Sur, Villamora is the first Tinambaqueño to hold this post.

Villamora, along with the members of BCSDC’s Executive Board and the Board of Directors were sworn into office by Mrs. Janet T. Villalobos, the Guest Speaker for the occasion and currently the Human Resources Operations Manager for Sharps Chula Vista Medical Center. The event, attended by about 200 people, was held at the popular Mission Valley Marriott Hotel on June 27, 1998.

During the later part of the evening, the Miss Bicol Club of 1998-99, Joyce Quiñones, was presented to the audience by Mrs. Evangeline Nagrampa, Chair of the "Search for Miss BCSDC" Committee.

In his inaugural address, Villamora emphasized that the Bicol Club of San Diego County is 35th years old and underscored its long-standing legacy of vision, leadership and tradition; and vowed to continue and be the caretaker and advocate of such legacy.

A 23-year Navy veteran, Villamora is still on the active rolls with a rank of Lieutenant Commander. He is currently the Head of the Industrial Hygiene Department, Navy Environmental and Preventive Medicine Unit No. 5 in San Diego.

Al is married to the former Palmyra Almoite Rafols of Udiao, La Union. They have an 18-year daughter, Cindy, who is also an active member of the Bicol Youth Group.
