Never Be Able To Be The Same

My Engalnd and Africa Experience

First of all, our trip, the Doulos class of '97 '98, had an incredible time. We went screaming out of LAX for a 3 month trip into the biggest adventure of our lives. Our first stop was for 2 weeks in England, a bit of training and stuff, then off to AFRICA!!!! We arived in Zimbabwe on the 5th of May or so. We spent a total of 6 weeks in Africa. We went to so many places that I don't even remember all the names of the different places. We saw God do so many things. It one thing to read the Bible and find out how God did all kinds of cool thing, but its another to see him do it in front of your eyes. One day in a town called Hwange, I was preaching to a congregation, I say preaching, but I was just talking in front of people. I had never really preached before. And I saw God use me to touch a 50 year old Zimbabwian man. Old men in Zimbabwe culture are very respected, and heres me, ministering to this old man. It was one of the biggest honors of my young life. God did so much stuff in Africa. It was cool. After 5 weeks of fast, action packed ministry in all the diferent corners of Zimbabwe, we went to a game park and saw elephants, zibras, giraffs, you name it, I even saw a lion, which isn't that common. We then went to Victoria falls. The largest waterfall in the world, by volume. Something like, 5 hundred thousand gallons an hour or something crazy. It was the coolest experience of my life. If you ever get the chance to go abroad and minister the gospel to people, even if its to Mexico, just across the border, or somewhere close, do it!! God will forever change your view of the world. You will never be able to be the some. We went back to England, and honestly, it was a lot harder to minister in their culture than in Africa. But, any western culture is that way if you think about it. And after 5 weeks of England we came home. But not after having had our hearts riped out, a good dose of the love of God for the world packed into it, then slammed back into our chests. It was the most incredible experience of my life. And last but not least, God gave me a special gift while we where in England and Africa, I fell in love with who is now, my future wife!!! Her name is Katie, and she is by far the biggest thing God did while I was over sees. Picture follow, stick around and check it out.
Thanks,
Nick.

This is my dear future fiance and I eating at a resturant if Africa. We had just finished our assignments, and we where out with our friends having a good time. I love this woman!!!!
This is my half phsyco friend!!! Just kidding. He isn't phsyco. In this picture, we where in London. In the background is West Minster Abby, and Big Ben, which isn't the name of the clock, just the main bell!! We where on the bridge the crosses the Themes, and my friend decided he wanted to do a rockclimbing move off the bridge. Hmmm. Good thing his fiance wasn't there. ;-)
In Africa, they have the coolest trees. This one is called a Baobab tree. It isn't very tall, but it has a enormous trunk. Sometimes up to 20 feet round or more. They have an interesting fruit. It tastes like an aple with the texture of dust. Hehehe, you have to wet it with your spit, then eat it, wierd huh?
This was in a town called Hwange. A coal mining town. My friends and I decided before we left, that we should get our picture taken on one of the trains they had retired, and painted up. It was fun. These are some of my closest friends in the whole world.
The sunsets in Africa where breathtaking. This one is taken over Hwange, through the trees in the number 2 mining camp. God gave us that town. It was incredible.
Yup, couldn't go to Africa and not observe some wild life. This was a mother and baby elephant drinking at a watering hole. About a half mile away, there was a water pump, pumping water out of the ground for these guys to drink.
The giraffs where huge. They really are as tall as they look in all the pictures. This one was a loner. We saw them in groups as large as 10 or 12. Quite a site.
One of the coolest things we saw in Africa was Victoria falls. This shot was taken from the opposite side of the gorge into which the falls "fall." Incredible. Something only God could do.
This is looking into the gorge that the falls fall into. This is one of the best shots I got in Africa. I love this picture. Katie, when we where standing next to one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, had a massive revelation of God's love for her. Imageine, the power of these falls, couldn't compare to the power of God's love for his kids!!
This is one of the most incredible men of God I have ever had the chance to know. His name is Peter Sibanda. He is the senior pastor of hundreds of churches. Standing next to this man is like standing next to one of the original oppostles or something. I admire him greatly.
