RPG Maker 2000 Game Reviews!
I consider myself a fairly nice person. Whenever someone asks me to critique any of their work (whether it be art, games, or food), I can never give them a bad review. So unless your game sucks like there's no tomorrow, chances are you won't get a bad review.
CRITERIA:
I rate everything on a Five Star scale:
Legendary
Neutral
Crap
(I don't think anyone will ever get anything less than one star from me)
CATEGORIES:
STORY - A game has to have a good story to be interesting. If I don't care much for the story, I'm not gonna play it.
GRAPHICS - Are the graphics approprate? I don't care if they use defaults, but it's always nice to see something new. I rate the use of the graphics rather than the actual look.
MUSIC- Is the music appropriate? Does it suddenly stop? Are sad scenes actually accompanied by sad music?
EFFORT - How much effort was put into the game, in my opinion. If all the towns look exactly the same and the characters are boring and it looks like it took them a day to make it, they might actually get only one star. This is a big one for me. Even if the game has a crappy story line and shit for graphics, if they actually put a lot of effort into it, then they'll get a high rating.
LACK OF BUGS - I don't like having to see half a tree somewhere or have the ability to walk on air. That's the main problem I have with my games.
OVERALL - I average up all the stars and just give it an overall feel rating. Pretty self-explanatory.
ACTUAL REVIEWS:
Seeing as how I haven't had much time to actually play other peoples games all the way through, I think I'll rate my game first.

1. AURORA by Rogue

STORY:
It wasn't that original. But then again it's very hard to be original now-a-days.
It was interesting though. Maybe a little too much plot, but it IS a chick
game. What do you expect.
GRAPHICS
The graphics were original! I took a lot of the defaults and changed them
to look different. Took a while. But they look cool, don't they? Especially
the Aurora at the very end!
MUSIC
I tried very hard to make the music appropriate for the occasions. And I
think it is. It works well.
EFFORT
It took me literally over a year to finish the damn thing. I put a LOT of
effort into it. I remember how hard it was to test events on my old Pentium
200 (yeah, I know, it's an antique) because my computer would crash every
other time. And I remember how many times I've almost given up because the
storyline wouldn't work. But I finally got there! It was hard, but I did
it. It's a product of my blood and sweat.
LACK OF BUGS
Ha! Don't even go there. I know that game is still full of them. It's
just that I haven't gotten decent game testers yet, and seeing as how I know
exactly what to do and where to go, it's hard for me to find them myself.
OVERALL
It's basically what the stars average out to. But also the game was worked
on very hard, and it does have nice graphics for a first timer. So I think
it deserves a 4.
