History:
As a young girl Dana was always fascinated by superheroes. She loved the fact that her parents used to be in the
profession, and wanted to be one herself. Her younger Brother Jesse, always felt he could do it as well. Terry was
more than a little nervous when the pair brought it up to him, mainly because Jesse would be the same age as Terry
was when he started. But with a little help from their mother, and Dana being so persistant, Terry eventually agreed,
but warned them that this was not an easy life to live. The two listened very intently to their father, as they knew full
well Terry knew what he was talking about.
After Terry agreed to the two being heroes, Katie asked the two what they wanted their hero names to be, after they
completed their training with their "Aunts and Uncles". Jesse beat Dana to the punch when he said he wanted to be
RedBird, so Dana picked the name of her mother's other hero persona, Nightbird. But her suit, in appearance, was
quite different from Jesse's. Though Dana would have her mother's name, she loved how cool her father looked in
his batsuit, and wanted to look like him, and asked them both if she could wear the female version of it her father
had given to their mother when her parents first met. Terry was quite pleased that his daughter felt so highly of
him(his kids rarely called him cool), and showed her the suit.
Dana spent many years, like her younger brother, in the batcave listening to her family and training. She wanted to
be ready when she put on her cowl, mainly due to the fact that her father had always told her the one thing he was
never sure of in his time, was if he was doing things right. Of course, in Dana's eyes, Terry could do no wrong along
with their mother.
When Dana was about 13, and reading the latest case reports on robberies around gotham, she suddenly had
noticed she had read the entire page, and hardly glanced at it. Brushing this off that she just wasn't paying attention
to herself, Dana kept on reading. The report was a good 40 some pages long, and Dana was finished with it in 10
minutes. While Dana was trying to figure out why she was spacing out, Grandpa and Grandma came down and
asked her jokingly if she was done yet. Dana being somewhat unsure of herself, told them she thought so. This
naturally surprised Jesse and Dick, so the two decided to quiz her on what she just read. There wasn't a single
question either of them fired at Dana that wasn't immediately answered correctly. When Jesse asked how Dana read
it so quickly, Dana told them she had no idea. This caused Grandpa to be a little interested in Dana's predicament,
so he told her that he wanted her to read an entire dictionary with grandma flipping the pages. Jesse flipped through
them as fast as she could, and Dana had read every word and the definition along with it.
Jesse then told Terry about what had happened, and told her to get to the cave right away. Dana was then tested
with a bio scanner, and it was revealed that her speedster gene gave her PHENOMENAL processing speeds. The
only reason that it took her so long to read the crime report was because she didn't have external superspeed, and
therefore couldn't turn the pages as fast.
With this power, Dana's homeschooling went by faster than ever, and she was done with high school tests, etc. by
the age of 13. Terry was very proud of both his Daughter and Son, as RedBird had developed speed powers a year
after Dana did, and didn't have to sleep anymore.
Personality:
Dana knows full well that this isn't just some "game" she is playing, and strives to make her parents proud of their
decision to allow her to be a hero. She takes her work pretty seriously, but like every all-american girl, knows how to
have fun as well. She hopes that her name will be as famous as her parents were, but never dwells on it. If it
happens, it happens, but she feels it's not important. Her parent's are the one's she's most loyal to, ditto her family
members. If they ever need her, they know all they have to do is call, and Dana will be there as fast as she can be,
unless Grandpa Jesse, Aunt Haley, or Uncle Freddie, decide that isn't fast enough, and pick her up themselves.
Powers:
Due to her Speedster Gene, Dana has PHENOMENAL processing power. She forgets nothing of
whatever she reads or has read, and has a photographic memory. Usually, nothing takes her over 5
minutes to read, and even less if someone with super speed is turning the pages. She has become quite
the chemist and engineer since her gene has triggered, and can usually make some fairly useful tools
with her evergrowing knowledge.
The rest of Dana's powers are derived from her suit.
The cowl has built in audio-visual equipment that allow anyone in the batcave to see what Dana can. It
also has the face filter, making gas mask, etc. unneeded. The cowl is also equipped with a comm unit,
and allows Dana magnification, Nightvision, and Telescopic Vision via lenses in her eye slits.
Neuro-Muscular Amplifyers: She can lift 2 tons no straining, 3 with.
Gloves: House compartments to put collapsable batrangs in and wrist launchers to cover greater
distances, also has grappling lines. Super hearing via her index and middle fingers on either hand.
Sensors: Dana can tell if someone is lying to her, if there is something radioactive in a room, how many
bad guys are waiting for her, etc. (Iron man type stuff)
Flight: Wings and boot jets. She can detach the wings from her arms, locking them into a position on
her back, allowing both arms free if she needs them.
Utility Belt: Houses her explosive batarangs and smoke bombs. Standard batfamily type stuff for
gadgets.
Vehicle: Nightbird has a custom made Batcycle that she constructed herself with some notes her father
gave her. It can go a max speed of 300MPH, and has quite a few "interesting" little toys in case
someone wants to go toe-to-toe with her.
