Restrictor Plate Setup
NASCAR Racing restrictor plate Q&A
Q: What IS a restrictor plate, and how do you turn them on/off in NASCAR Racing?
A: A restrictor plate is a flat plate with four small holes drilled init. It is bolted between the carbuerator and the intake manifold (orsomewhere near that) and restricts the air going into the engine. This restricts the horsepower that is produced and therefore the speedsof the cars. The NASCAR Racing game only has one track (Talladega) that makes use ofthe restrictor plate.Do the following to 'turn off' the restrictor plate:Using a text file editor, open the file in the NASCAR/TRACKS/TALADEGAdirectory named TALADEGA.TXTThe third line of the file begins with the letters 'SPDWY' and then aseries of three numbers. By default, the first number is a '1'(indicating 'on'). Just change the '1' to a '0' and then save the file.To restore the plate, just change the '0' back to a '1'.
