"Now the Bereans were of
more noble character than the Thessalonians,
for they received the message
with great eagerness
and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what
Paul said was true.
Acts 17:11 niv
The Bereans, in the Apostle Paul's day,
did not unquestioningly accept what Paul said. Rather,
they examined the Scriptures
to see if what Paul (and others) taught was in agreement with or contradictory to
the Scriptures (the Word of God). We should do no less today.
Unfortunately, today, there is much error and departure from the sound teaching of God's word.
Therefore, it is only right for you to know what "Solid Rock Baptist Chapel" believes. In that way, you will be better able to understand and know the direction and emphasis of our Ministry.
This, then, is what "Solid Rock Baptist Chapel"
believes !
This is our Doctrinal Statement of Faith:
We believe that the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men of God
"were moved by the Holy Spirit" to write the very words of Scripture.
The Bible is, therefore, without error
(inerrant) in its original manuscripts.
God has supernaturally preserved the Bible and it is the final authority for faith
and practice.
We believe in one true God, eternally existing in three distinct Persons (Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit), each of Whom is fully and equally God. Each possesses all
of the Divine nature and attributes and is totally worthy of our worship and service.
We believe that God the Father, the first Person of the Trinity, is eternal, unchanging,
completely just and perfectly Holy. He, along with His Son and the Holy Spirit, is
the Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign Ruler of the universe. He is the Father of
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as well as the Father of all true believers.
We believe that Jesus Christ, the second Person of the Trinity, is the only begotten eternal Son of God. He became flesh and lived here on earth among us for a time. As man, He did not cease in any way to be God, so He is fully God and fully man, inseparably united in one Person forever.
We believe that Jesus was miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the
virgin, Mary, and lived a sinless life while on earth. As our only Savior
and Redeemer, He died on the cross as the substitutionary, all-sufficient atoning
Sacrifice for sin. He was buried, rose bodily from the dead, and physically ascended
into heaven in His glorified, resurrected body. He is now seated at the right hand
of the Father, performing His ministry of intercession. He will return to claim His
Bride, the Church, and will come again to earth in bodily form, personally and visibly,
to conclude human history and consummate God's eternal plan.
We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity, as the primary
agent for the conviction of sin and for regeneration, glorifies Christ and enables
men to appropriate the salvation wrought by Christ. The Holy Spirit permanently indwells
the believer and securely seals the believer unto the day of redemption.
We believe that God created man in His image to glorify God, worship and serve
Him, and have fellowship with Him. Man deliberately chose to disobey God, thus corrupting
his own nature, incurring physical and spiritual death, and alienating himself from
God. Man is utterly lost, dead in his trespasses and sin, and is totally incapable
of saving himself and coming back into right relationship with God by his own merit
or effort.
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the
only basis for forgiveness of sins and salvation. Salvation is effected by
the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit and cannot be secured by man's works or
personal merit. Salvation is only appropriated by a person placing his faith
in the finished work of Christ.
We believe that Jesus Christ will return again to reign with the saints. His return
will be a literal return. Those justified by salvation through the shed blood of
Jesus Christ will be bodily resurrected to live eternally with God in Heaven.
