Y100 FEASTival December 4, 1998 Electric Factory Philadephia
The New Radicals were the first band to take the stage at the Y100 holiday concert. Back up singer Danielle Brisebois came out to get the crowd going. After a few seconds of the beginning of "Mother, We Just Can't Get Enough", Gregg Alexander ran up on stage. I heard this was their 2nd show ever, but by the way they were playing it sounded like they've been playing live for years. Next came "You Get What You Give" since it was a radio concert and that song is played constantly on the station, the crowd was going crazy for it. After a great version of "Jehovah Made This Whole Joint For You" they decided to play "You Get What You Give" another time. The reason was that the keyboardist's sister came to he show late and she missed that song the first time around and since she came all the way to the show when she was sick they played it over again for her! I think that the 2nd time over was the best one, and that was it! They only had 1/2 hour or so to play, but they did a grrrreat job!!!
Fan Review from the Cleveland Agora 12/18/98 by Mike Farley
After 10 local bands took the stage throughtout the day for a benefit concert, the New Radicals prepared to play for a packed Agora Ballroom. They came out onto the stage one by one and started playing their respective parts to "Mother, we Just Can't Get Enough" until lead singer/songwriter Gregg Alexander came out and started singing, as well as jumping around and getting the crowd pumped. Another standout song was "I Hope I Didn't Just Give Away the Ending" as well as "You Get What You Give," which they played twice, once as an encore. Alexander shouted "This song was meant to raise the roof off f***ing places like this" before they played it the second time.
The band was unbelieveably tight and energetic. The only disappointment was "Someday We'll Know" which was done almost exclusively as a piano/vocal song instead of with the whole band through the whole song like on the CD.
All I can say is that I stood on my chair and danced on it for their entire 45 minute set. Their music is so infectious you just can't help but like it. I speak for my self, of course, because there were plenty of teenyboppers there who just didn't appreciate them and by the end of the set were chanting "LESS THAN JAKE!", who was slated to take the stage next. Kids, what do they know?

New Radicals Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too
The New Radicals...ahh, the New Radicals. They're like a breath of fresh air. I stumbled upon the album a few months ago and since then have heard the hypnotically anthemic "Get What You Give" every time I turn the station, it seems. But...surprise! Much like the seemingly trillions of people I've talked to about the band, I love it every time.
And hell, that's not even the best song on the album! Actually, the album is primo. Magnifique...Baby, the album kicks ass! Have any of you read my previous album reviews? They're all about the new metal scene. What gives?! Lemme' tell ya' brotha'. I've got a theory about this band. They're drugs for the ears, and for your spirit. And yes, they should have an FDA warning 'cuz they're hugely addictive, and I'm sure singer/songwriter/producer/renaissance man Gregg Alexander would be more than happy to hear that.
Actually, I think Alexander is gonna' find himself being very happy in the coming year. The New Radicals have been predicted by more than a few sources to be the next big hit! Oh my God, there's the kiss of death, "the next big thing." Nope!! Not this time. Gregg Alexander has hit it on the head. Y'know why? It's 'cuz he's got experience. The boy has lived the life. He's seen everything, been everywhere, and has done everything...and he loves it. And he loves you, and that's why he's offered this album to us. Hey, this guy is a gift to the music scene. He's fresh, invigorating, passionate, and if you can't figure this out by the time you've heard him scream, "Mother...We just can't get enuff'," on the first track, then you need to turn off your radio and go play in some traffic. Is that too much? I feel like I may have played him up a lil' too much, but who cares! This guy is a new beginning for pop music. No, not N-Sync or any of your other favorite "5-boy, can't write our own material, band of the day." (Sorry, MarQ) But it's something I can't quite place. It's that little place deep inside where you secretly dream that music can somehow pull us all together. The New Radicals are the first step toward that, and I just can't get enuff'!
Review from Frosty The Show Man (in San Diego, CA December11, 1998) by Darla Kimmell
Let's see how well I can remember that night. If I have a little detail or quote which isn't quite accurate, please forgive me, I'm doing the best I can. Don't be surprised if this is rather long. I have a tendency to ramble. I hope you enjoy reading this...
The following is Darla's experience at Frosty the Show, Man. This was a concert featuring Cake, with the New Radicals and Everlast opening. Tickets for this show never went on sale. The only way to get a ticket was to give a toy. It was for the Toys for Tots toy drive. The show was at the 4th & B, in San Diego, on December 11, 1998.
I was right up at the front of the line waiting to get in. Anyway, they finally start letting us in around 6:30. I'm the first one in and I make a bee-line for the floor. The show was gen/adm and I wanted to be right up front. As I'm walking in, I hear the New Radicals in the middle of a song. I think to myself, "What kind of deal is this?" I make it to the floor, and there are NO fans there. People are just hanging out in the seats in the back area, or in the bar. I kept heading straight to the stage and stand right there -- front center, in front of Gregg. He looked at me funny a couple of times. Then, after a moment, some guy comes up and tells me I need to leave. WHAT?? Apparently, they were in the middle of a sound check. How was I to know? After all, they let us in at the front door. Well, the show finally got started. I was right there front center (pretty much) with my camera. I took several pics throughout the show. In the course of it all I was sweated on and spit on by Gregg. During 'Jehovah' Gregg tossed a bottle of water in the air while singing the line "By sipping pure water and such" and then immediately stomped on it, getting me all wet!!
At one point, some guy from the audience got on stage and was dancing around then sang for a while. He decided his return trip to the audience would be by diving -- right into my wrist!! OUCH!! I believe I was the only person he came in contact with just before landing face first on the floor. I don't think that was what he expected...
The set list as they played -- 'Mother', 'Jehovah', 'Don't wanna die', 'Get what you give', and 'I hope I didn't just give away the ending'. During 'You get what you give' I found the mic in front of my face (how embarassing, but TOTALLY COOL!! -- Thanks Gregg!!!).
When they were done, I headed outdoors. I just lurked around here and there, hoping to catch sight of the band. I wanted to get my CD cover autographed. Then I realize that half the band (not including Gregg) is standing about 20 feet away!! Just about that time Everlast was starting up, but I didn't head in. Everlast isn't my style. Not only that, I was certain Gregg would be appearing soon. So, I went over and sat on the steps and waited.
I did get his autograph. He said something which I didn't understand. So, he repeated it ("What's your name?"), looked up (rather, down -- he's quite tall) at me, got a funny look on his face, and said, "How's it going?" as if we'd known each other and were just hangin' out. I guess he just recognized me as the idiot who walked in on the sound check!! I also got our picture taken together (it didn't turn out so well -- Damn!!) and took a final one of him in the parking lot there. It was a really cool night. I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet Gregg and talk to him, even if for a brief moment. He seemed like a real nice guy. And, he's in a band which makes some real great music!! And, I can't wait for the next album!!
Concert Review by Tim Roberts
I attended a new radicals show in late december and was very impressed. the band has a lot of talent and the cd is amazing. they played a short but sweet set. they started the night off with "mother, we just can't get enough." The band also played, "i hope i didnt just give away the ending," "i dont wanna die anymore," and "someday well know." they ended the set with the popular single, "you get what you give." frontman gregg alexander has a lot of energy and sounds great live!
Special Review by Leigh Adams
I won tickets to see their show in Montreal back in November and we hung around after the show and got to meet them. They talked about stuff like the video, and said that the original plan was for the kids to completely destroy the mall, but before they shot the video they were too tripped out on Exstacy! We got drumsticks from the drummer (FYI the drummer they're touring with is Stuart Johnson), and we were waiting to get them signed. We ended up waiting for twenty minutes for Gregg. The rest of them came out and we were talking and hanging out with them. When Gregg came out, he apologised for making us wait and invited us back stage. We ended up hanging out backstage with the band, drinking their beer and munching on their food. When we won the contest, they gave us has and while we were backstage we got them signed by the band. Gregg signed mine three times! They have got to be the most down to earth band I've ever met, and hey, they can sing too!
Review by William Newman
Not knowing what to expect I was very happy with the New Radicals show Jan. 26 in Roseville CA. This was my first time at this venue, and the club was the most disapointing thing of the night. The stage was set up at an odd angle that made it difficult to view at most positions of the hall. Opening act was Adam Cohen, son of the great Canadian singer-songwriter-poet-author Leonard Cohen. Cohen played a short set of his songs unfamiliar and unappreciated by the crowd, of course we were there to see the New Radicals.
The New Radicals opened the set with "Mother We Just Can't Get Enough" and then went into "Jehova Made This Whole Joint For You". After a strange Salt-N-Peppa intro they went into "I Don't Wanna Die Anymore". Next was their hit "You Get What You Give" which the crowd loved. Another strange intro was up this time of Michael Jackson's "You Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" which faded into "Someday We'll Know". The music picked up into "I Hope I Didn't Just Give Away The Ending", but Gregg started to sing Oasis' "Wonderwall" instead! I've seen Oasis and they didn't even play that song for as long as the New Radicals took it out! As "Wonderwall" faded, they went into "I Hope..." on the same melody. Gregg thanked the crowd and left the stage. As most people were heading for the exit, they came back out and Gregg started to talk about some music reporter that gave him s*** in a review for playing the same song twice. Gregg explained his side as the band is new at playing together, and they don't know a lot of songs. Besides that when you're promoting your first album, you don't have a lot of your own material. After the monolog the band went into an encore of "You Get What You Give" where by the end of the song, most of the remaining audience was on stage with the band! The show was great. I just wish they had played at a better club. Especially one that allowed "in & outs" for us smokers. Though they might not've played a long set, the show was well worth it, and I highly recomend to anyone that you go see their show.
Review by Jennifer Corker -- New Radicals at Slims, San Francisco 1/27/99
I've been to quite a few concerts, but I must say that this was probably the most exciting one yet. Adam Cohen opened for the band. He played about 5 songs, all of which were pretty good. His voice kinda sounded like Gregg's at times. He was very nice and told us what a nice crowd we were and that the New Radicals were very lucky to get to play for us.
It was a sold-out show, and how I managed to slip up to the front, I don't know. I was second from the front of the stage, toward the left side. The band (minus Gregg) came out around 9:45 and began their intro to "Mother We Just Can't Get Enough." The lead guitarist was directly in front of me and Danielle, playing the congas, was a little behind him and to the right. When Gregg appeared the whole crowd began to cheer. He was sitting on a stool belting out the words to the song. Afterwards he said that he had "jumped off something and f---ed up my knee," which was why he was using the stool. They then played "Jehova Made This Joint For You" and "Don't Wanna Die Anymore."
Gregg told us that he had spoken to a psychic of sorts and was told that September 11 of this year is when "the shit's gonna hit the fan." He said that, if we all stuck together, we'd all be okay, and everyone cheered as they began "You Get What You Give." By this time he was hardly using the stool (his knee musn't have been bothering him that bad) and had taken on many forms all over the stage. At one point he was lying on his back with his feet proped up on the stool. The lead guitarist stood on an amp and Gregg snuck up behind him and gave him a slight push, but he didn't fall.
Then he played "Someday We'll Know," and during the intro to "I Hope I Didn't Just Give Away The Ending," he stole the guy's guitar and everyone kinda stopped playing. Gregg took the Strat and sat on the stool. He said, "I had too much" (to drink) and began to play some chords. They sounded very familiar, but not like one of his songs. Then, when he started to sing, I realized that he was playing "Wonderwall" by Oasis, but in a lower key. Some people probably could've cared less, but I found this incredible because Oasis is one of my favorite bands. I kept thinking, "Gregg is singing an Oasis song! How cool!" When he was finished, they played "I Hope I DIdn't Just Give Away The Ending." He accidently skipped the verse "We caught a fey taxi driver/ I smiled the ride was free. . ." and sang the "We started limping/ Caught the handicap shuttle to town. . ." verse twice instead. But no one seemed to mind; I just kept singing along. When the song was through, they went off stage, but I knew they'd probably come back for one more song. They did, and Gregg came out with a towel on his head, and sat down on the stage. He stood up and started "rapping" about "what's hip, " and then said, "I'm so uncool, I'm gonna play this song again!" and "You Get What You Give" started up. Everyone cheered and sang twice as loud. Gregg handed his mic to a guy in the front who was wild throughout the whole show. When Gregg took back the mic, he went to shake the guy's hand, and the guy held on and got up onstage. The guy ran over to Danielle (he was screaming to her through the whole show) and danced with her. She was nice and played along, not seeming to mind the fact that he was all over her.
When the guy finally went back into the audience, the lead guitarist crouched down in the middle of the stage and played. Gregg pushed him again, but this time knocked him off balance and he fell of the stage and into the crowd! People were supporting him, it's not like he hit the ground, but it was kinda funny because I think he just kept playing while people lifted him above their heads. I don't think Gregg meant to push him that hard and he grabbed onto him and pulled him back on stage. (The guitarist went back to the other side of the stage where he'd be safe from Gregg!)
A girl came on stage and Gregg shared the mic as she tried to sing along. Then he pulled another girl on stage and pretty soon there were like 10 people up there. He started over to my side of the stage and I stretched my arm out. He grabbed the hand of the girl infront of me (since she was right up against the stage) and pulled her on stage. I slipped up into her spot, my arm still up. She was totally in shock (can you blame her?) and pulled my arm and up I went.
At first I was like, "What?! I'm on stage with the New Radicals?!" It was crazy! Gregg was right in front of me, with his back facing me. I turned to the girl, who still was in awe, and was like, "Can you believe this?!" Because it was so loud no one could hear anything besides the music, but she knew what I was saying and she said something like, "I know!"
As I said, Gregg was about one foot in front of me, facing the audience, singing. I couldn't belive it-- I wanted to grab on to him or hold onto his arm of something, but he was busy singing and I didn't want to freak him out or push him into the audience, so I just patted his back. The girl next to me was watching and she patted his arm. (I told you she was in shock!) I was thinking, "I just rubbed Gregg Alexander's back!" and when I turned to my left, there was Danielle in her leather outfit!
We looked at eachother and I put my arm around her back and gave her a quick side-hug. She smiled and started dancing, so I began to jump to the music and she jumped, too--right next to me! It was so funny--it was like I was in the "You Get What You Give" video! There were about 25 people dancing around on stage with the New Radicals. Fortunately, it didn't get out-of-hand; the wildest thing I saw, besides junping around all over the place and the occasional hugging/grabbing of a band member was a guy next to me banging on the congas! It was hilarious!
Danielle was still smiling and jumping with me when I finally realized that this would be the perfect opportunity to get my cd signed. I grabbed my cd out of my coat pocket and handed Danielle a pen. She smiled and nodded; she seemed excited to get to autograph something. As soon as the song was through, Gregg rushed off stage so no one was able to get to him. But I was able to get the signature of the lead guitarist and the drummer. He was really cool, he signed it "Papa Stu NR '99" and drew a picture of a stick man drumming. He thanked me for coming and I told him they were great and he said thank you.
The show was excellent and the fact that I was up on stage made it even more unreal. It was one of the most exciting things that has happened to me, and I don't think I'll ever forget it!
Roseville/San Fransisco show review by Julie Walters
I saw New Radicals in Roseville. I won backstage passes from the radio and got to met Gregg . He was quiet and when I asked him to tell me about himself he challenged me with "you tell me about yourself". My roomate and I followed them to the S.F show. He remembered and acknowledged us. I was the first person he pulled onstage that night. We followed their van. I guess we were having a new Kids flashback. THe driver did crazy maneuvers to loose us. I have never done so many illegal things in 7 minutes. Finally they pulled over. We realized we pissed them off and we drove back to Davis. I had a midterm the next morning. It was worth being unprepard for the test.
Miles Erickson--Snoqualmie Pass concert
The New Radicals played a free concert on January 25, 1999 at Snoqualmie Pass (yes, a ski area, outdoors, in the snow!) near Seattle, courtesy of The Mountain (a very cool radio station, by the way, if you don't live in Seattle you can get their live RealAudio at http://www.kmtt.com)..
Anyway, it was a lot of fun, with only a couple hundred people there. They played a pretty short set including the songs you'd pretty much expect to hear. Afterward, their people passed out a couple boxes of free demo CDs with the more popular songs from "Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too," and then the band members came in and autographed them, had conversations with people, etc. Quite possibly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity? We'll see. ;-) I wish them the best.
Concert Review from Emory University show w/ the Goo Goo Dolls by Ashley Mason
So, the New Radicals came to Emory University to open for the Goo Goo Dolls. Honestly, I was not too thrilled by the prospects of seeing the New Radicals because "you get what you give" has totally been played out on the radio, but nevertheless, it was a free show, so I was there as soon as the gates opened.
Let me just tell you, seeing the band live totally changed my perspective on them. They were awesome!! I loved every song they sang, and I was really impressed because my school is full of snotty brats, so I was afraid that no one would get into the show. But, everyone was so into it! There was crowd surfing and everything. Gregg was going wild and he would bang his mic onto the cement keeping with the beat. All the girls in the crowd were totally in love with Gregg by the end of the show.
When he sang "you get what you give", Gregg started telling us to throw clumps of grass at them so WE DID! It was so funny! Gregg would just laugh when a huge clod of grass flew by his face! Soon enough Gregg was throwing the grass back at us! I think I still have dirt in my ears! Then, he jumped off the stage and got in the middle of the crowd, so I along with the people around me got to sing into his mic with him. It was the best! He was a really cool guy. So, needless to say, I immediately rushed out and bought the cd and I am now the hugest fan. I can't wait to see them in concert again.
Fan Review by Steph...A WEEK OF NEW RADICALS ANYONE?
SYRACUSE, NY, MARCH 30, 1999: My traveling crew consisted of me (Steph), Lori, Rai, & carrie . . . and we started our trip in Syracuse, NY! We arrived and checked in to our hotel . . . . and as it turns out the Goos & the New Radicals were both staying in the same hotel. As we were leaving our room to go to the concert, we ran into Brad (lead guitarist) & James (keyboard player) from the New Radicals on our floor! They were on their way to sound check! So we talked to them awhile! We ended up with great spots for the concert . . in the balcony right over brad & danielle. They finally came out and just completely rocked! The crowd in Syracuse was very energetic! Brad waved and made a comment about his friends from the elevator . . . cuz we were really getting into it! They started their 4 song set with YGWYG while the crowd goes wild . . . but they only play the first few bars, then they stop and Gregg falls on the ground! Kind of a funny antic . . . but then they start into "Jehovah Made this Whole Joint for You". The following set is "Mother, Just Can't Get Enough", then "Someday", and then a fun rap which slowly evolved into another song! It was really awesome! Gregg made a few cracks in between songs and then had everyone participate into a loud "Fuck You" when telling a story of a rival to Syracuse University! And for anyone who likes the Goo Goo Dolls . . . they put on an outstanding performance. If anyone wants any details on that part of the trip, you can email me!
RALEIGH, NC, APRIL 1, 1999: We luckily ran into Brad & James outside the venue again . . they were really nice! The one thing that never changed from concert to concert is their clothing . . . they all wore the same outfits each concert! hahaha I wonder why! We were right in the front row again! The crowd in Raleigh was much more quiet and I turned around to look at everyone, and nobody was singing or dancing! It was pretty non-active! =) Too bad for our guys! But the show was still great, although their sound was a bit more muffled in this small venue! They did awesome though!
HOUSE OF BLUES, MYRTLE BEACH, SC, APRIL 2, 1999: The crowd was hysterical . . . everyone was going crazy! Do I even have to say that we were in the front row again? And the New Rads did the same set, same jokes, same stories! =0 But it was fun to hear them all again! More people were into it this time! Lots of screaming girls! It seemed that everyone really liked "Someday" . . . And then the New Rads watched the Goos from the windows above the stage afterwards. We were outside again when they were out leaving and a million screaming girls were attacking them and begging for anything in the guys' possession. One girl was begging for a piece of Brad's hair, and another was begging him to take her g-string underwear! yikes! But brad & james saw us and came over and took some pictures with us and chatted with us for a while. We finally met Sasha and Stuart . . it was great!! Then they were gone soon after!
AUGUSTA, GA, APRIL 3, 1999: We arrived pretty late at this outdoor festival. It was on an army base in the middle of this big field. The place was packed and it was a huge mess. Water was being thrown in all directions, pushing, shoving, etc. We walked up to the gate and talked to a bunch of people that we knew and sure enough Brad and James came over to chat with us some more! What great guys, eh? After a few minutes I found myself backstage and having a good time. My friends were stuck out in the main audience for the evening! =( But I was invited to watch the New Radicals from the stage . . . so I was freaking out! I was about 2 feet from Brad, and 3 of the Goo Goo Dolls were there watching with me! It was the best. Since I could see the crowd from the front view, I noticed at this festival that lots of people were singing along! Yah! The did the best they had done on the entire trip . . . very energetic and upbeat . . and the sound was clear! Gregg made a few jokes about water being sold at $3.00 a bottle and what a rip of this world is! (And, this was the first time I had seen them in different clothes)! haha It was good! Many other things transpired that night and on the trip, but I won't everyone with it! All I know is that the New Radicals rock and they put on one hell of a show! I was depressed when I had to return home to Arizona! AAAAHHHH!
New Radicals/Goo Goo Dolls
April 17, 1999
Creighton University Omaha, Ne
Saturday, April 17, 1999. The day that will never lose any significance in my mind. Ahhh yes, it was the New Radicals show...oh yeah, some band called the Goo Goo Dolls played too. They used to be a favorite band of mine (and still are in a way) but after my introduction to Gregg Alexander's brain child, it's hard to really remember anything else. Did I tell you how I got into the show? Peep this...It was open to Creighton University students only. Well, Creighton is pretty much your "rich kids" school, so I guess it goes w/o saying that I'm not a student there. Well, after bitching to everybody's hero, Brittany, that I couldn't go, I decided to give a shot at sneaking in. Before the show, I found the back of the building, found the buses, and waited for someone cool to walk by. Well, I had some luck. First I saw the "Goos." Nice...but I had bigger plans. Then about 30 minutes before the show, Danielle Brisebois walked past me. Here was my shot, and honestly, I really had no idea that I was actually gonna' meet Danielle, or any of the New Rads for that matter, but I didn't wanna' quit without trying. So here I am, telling Danielle that she's the most wonderful person to have ever walked the Earth, and I was just so damn excited that I was shaking. Mind you, I'm 24 yrs. old and have met probably every band you could ever dream of, and I was just uncontrollably excited to meet Danielle... Damn! I was a huge fan of hers back when "New Radicals" was just another term for "new world order, social anarchist." Well, she decided that she would take me into the show. She even fought with security to get me in there. Lemme' tell you, Danielle is a saint. Wait...can a girl be a saint? Well, she's an angel! Even better.
So, how was the show? Well, they started with "Jehovah", which was nice, then tore it up with "Mother", which was even better. Then they ridiculed the security for "f**kin'" with Danielle, and then ridiculed the lighting engineers for not knowing how to turn on lights, and continued the set with "I Don't Wanna' Die", "Someday We'll Know", and then of course...well, y'know. The Hit..."Get What You Give." So Hell Yeah! It was a great show. It was so loud that I thought I was gonna' pass out. This is also one of the wierd parts of the show...it was in a gymnasium. And the people there? Damn, baby...not a clue...well maybe some of them knew the words to some of the songs...but I'm glad that there was at least one super-committed, dire, hard-core New Rads fan there...and his name's Jeru.
So...the New Rads rocked! I was damn glad to have experienced them. I was happy to even find a way to get into the show. And if by chance Danielle were ever to read this...Thank You. You are the epitome of kindness with a sincerity unparalleled...Thank you. Much Love to all the New Rads fans...Check 'em out, baby!
Review for the album Maybe You´ve Been Brainwashed Too
By DJ Seb
The debut from the New Radicals is bigger and better than I had ever thought. I hear it at least one time a day. It is because you can´t get tired of listening to it. Each second of the album is great. What makes it that great, probably Gregg´s way of singing. He can hold his breath for a long time, and he describes his feelings when he sings, very well. There are also many different kinds of music on the album. We have the more heavy guitars on the song, "Flowers". And a bit more of pop on the song, "Someday We´ll Know". This makes the album good, very good indeed!
Another thing that is worth looking for, is that there are many mysterious voices in some of the songs. When you hear the song, "Mother, We Just Can´t Get Enough", in a discman loud, you will hear strange voices. This is another thing that makes the album worth listening to. It also means that there has been done many things to make the album interesting. I think Maybe You Have Been Brainwashed Too deserves ***** of *****!
Someday We'll Know single; Fan Review by Kristoffer, Denmark, Europe
The new single is out; Someday We'll Know - and maybe someday we actually will know if love can move a mountain?
At least this song moves me a lot. The most interesting thing about the CD is the B-side "The Decency League" starting out with drums and a quiet guitar, and then moving onto a great falsetto chorus; at least when you've heard it a few times and gotten to know the melody. The overall message of the song is sung very well by Gregg: "I don't like the Decency League, get out of my head", simply because the League is against all sexual behaviour. Track 3 is slightly different version of "Technicolor Lover" with much more echoe on the lyrics.
Track 4 is an instrumental version of Someday We'll Know, but if you listen carefully you can hear Gregg singing in the background, especially in the quiet verse in the middle ("I bought a ticket..."); Karaokee here we go!
Go buy it, it's a nice farewell from Gregg to the world...
Concert review by Chrism
New Rads opened up for Rusted Root on Dec. 30, 1998 at the Detroit Opera House
I went to this concert just when "You Get What You Give" was starting to get lots of airplay on radiostations. The only reason i wanted to go to this concert was to see Gregg and hear him play; i could care less about Rusted Root. Like most of their shows, Gregg opened up with "Mother..".. Gregg had a little nervousness in his voice and i could understand why--because hardly anyone knew this band and what they were about. The blank reaction from the audience was a let down for gregg, especially being that this was in Detroit!.. for the next song, gregg took his frustration out on the lighting, saying that "This lighting SUCKS..shut the lights off!".. so for the next 2 songs, it was pitch black and gregg twirled a flashlight around while he sang. This was quiet the upset.. but then things changed when he sang his last song, "You Get What U Give".. the lights came on for this one.. and me and my buddy ran up to the stage and got within 5 feet of him before security pushed us back. Gregg then almost sat on top of one of the security mans shoulders, but you could tell gregg realized that wouldn't be such a good idea. I wanted to scream to gregg that i loved him, but i didn't have the guts. So i stood there with my fishing hat in fascination until the security man told us to go back to our seats. Overall, I had a blast, despite the lights going off.
Does there anyone out there that knows where gregg is living right now?? hehehe
