I APOLOGIZE BUT THIS IS MY FORMER REPUTAR. I AM NO LONGER WORKING AS I AM PERMENANTLY DISABLED FROM A BACK & NECK INJURY. HOWEVER IF YOU WISH YOU CAN EMAIL ME WITH A QUESTION, I MIGHT BE ABLE TO DIRECT YOU TO HELP.
Qualifications:
1. Install new programs or config a program to work for you.
2. NETWORK your PC's together to take advantage of your high speed conection.
3.Upgrade? Not sure if you can? Need a modem, new motherboard, cpu, memory, video card, sound card, or network card, a bigger harddrive, cd-rom or Cd-burner? I'll do a quick evaluation to tell you if your computer can be upgraded or if it would be better to update to a new one. I can help guide you to finding some great deals as well.
For a quick evaluation in the Kern County area, email me and we'll make arrangements. Usually I can walk you through on the phone to tell me what kind of computer specifications you have, and whether it would be in your best interest to upgrade parts or a new computer. Usually the old harddrive can be used as a secondary storage. The Cdrom, memory, and other parts can be incorporated into a new system if it's being built from base. "SORRY NO LONGER BUILDING COMPUTERS", It is not economically as there are many places with excellent deals on computers already built."
Here's some tips on checking your system first before you are totally convinced it's out of your hands. ~~~ Windows 98 backs up the system
configuration (system.dat,system.ini,user.dat,win.ini) the first time that Windows 98 is started every day and stores these in "CAB" files.
By default, it stores 5 copies going back 5 days.
The following will show step by step how you can restore the last working copy of your system configuration including desktop icons and
other settings provided that, NO FILES were corrupted (virus, etc.)
or deleted since the last time the system was working correctly.
First, restart the computer and hold down the "Ctrl" key.
A Black screen will appear and offer different options
on how to boot up the computer.
Select "Command prompt only" and hit "Enter"
(Note: If your PC will not boot, try using a start up disk [if you haven't created that yet, go to control panel, add/ remove programs, and second tab will have a place to create a startup disk. It's always a good idea to have one on hand.} Then restart
the computer. At the A prompt, type
"c:\windows\command\scanreg" a space then "/restore"
Now hit the "Enter" key
Go to line A)
At the C prompt, type "scanreg" a space, then "/restore"
It should look like this:
C:\scanreg /restore
Now hit "Enter"
(A) A Blue screen will appear and show the CAB files.
Select the last CAB file that started correctly (It will say)
Hit "Enter".
It will reload that configuration and prompt for "Restart"
Hit "Enter"
It should now start like it did the day that CAB file was made.
