"What?" Heather asked, wanting to know what the doctor was talking about.
"I went to your house last night. Everything was dark." The doctor said.
"You were in my house?" Brian asked, sitting up straighter now.
"Yeah..." The doctor said.
"When? What time?" Nick asked, wanting to know the details of when he was
in the house.
"Oh...I don't know...nine?" The doctor said, shrugging. "Why?"
AJ tried to remember what had happened around nine o'clock last night. He
knew! He knew! He figured it out!
"Will you...speak deep for me?" AJ asked, almost shrinking up so small it
was unbearable to look him in the eye.
"Sure." The doctor said. "What?"
"How about..." AJ said, trying to remember what he had said to him last
night. "Wrong, wrong...and wrong?"
The doctor said it, and it sang tingles into AJ. He twiched, and squirmed
in his bed.
"Thank you." AJ said, wanting the doctor to leave, now.
"You're welcome. Well, I best go. More patients to make sure are
iffy-jiffy!" The doctor said, walking out the door.
"Why'd you ask him to-" Brian said, before AJ cut him off.
"That is him! That is the guy!" AJ said, pointing towards the door.
"What guy?" Heather asked.
"The guy last night! He came in the house! He was the guy that tried to
kill me! That is who wrote that note on your arm! That is him! That is
him! I'm telling you!" AJ said, pointing harder and harder at the door.
Brian looked at AJ strangely, and just shook his head.
"You wish! It's not ever this easy to find a killer." Brian said, shaking
his head. "No way!"
"Yes way! It's him!" AJ said, sticking up for himself.
"Maybe he's right, Bri." Heather said, patting Brian's hand.
"Maybe...but, I doubt it!" Brian said, shaking his head no.
"I'm sure! Ninety-nine point nine, nine, nine, nine percent!" AJ said.
"We're pretty sure of ourselves..." Nick said, laughing.
"It's not a laughing manner! This is true! I can bet you my lifes savings
that that is him!" AJ said, pointing to the door. "Him!"
"Give it up." Brian said, trying to go to sleep and block AJ out of his
head.
"Rok! I'm not kidding! Rok! Hello? Are you listening to me?" AJ asked.
"Yes, I am trying very hard to listen to you! Maybe, just a chance, I
don't want to know! I mean...I don't really want to talk about last night!
It wasn't a real pleasant time for me, AJ! It really wasn't! I can't
believe that you think the doctor is the guy! I think that that is crazy!
C-R-A-Z-Y! Crazy!" Brian said, shaking his head.
"Fine, don't believe me. Nobody else does." AJ said, looking around from
face to face.
"Now don't you go blaming this on us! I never said I didn't believe you!"
Heather piped up.
"So you do believe me?" AJ asked.
"I didn't say that, either." Heather said, looking at the blanket on her
bed.
"So you don't? Typical, just typical." AJ said, shaking his head.
"Don't you go 'typical'ing me!" Heather said, shaking her finger at him.
"Nuh-uh!"
"Let's just stop it! Everybody stop!" Brian said, taking control.
"I'm not saying anything. I am keeping my peace." Kevin said, shutting his
eyes and trying to go to sleep.
"Just everybody calm down! I am not saying that that isn't the...dude man.
I never heard the guy talk! AJ, just, calm down! We need some rest!"
Brian exclaimed.
"You don't understand! Rok! That is the guy that we are going to need to
find!" AJ said, looking Brian square in the eye, hard and cold.
"Why don't you ever just try to rest? I mean...we need it!" Brian said,
shutting his eyes and totally blocking everybody out.
"Rok...never mind...just, never mind." AJ said, shutting his eyes and
suddenly going to sleep.
"Wrong, wrong...and wrong. Wrong, wrong...and wrong. Wrong, wrong...and
wrong." Kept repeating in AJ's head.
"Wrong, wrong...and wrong." AJ said aloud, right before he drifted into a
long, deep sleep.
