Nick read the poem again and again, his eyes always seemed as shocked as before. He never knew anyone who has ever done anything like that for him before. He finally walked inside and bumped into Karen.
"Karen, you wrote this?" He asked
"Yeah, I thought you might like it, you always said you wanted stuff from the heart." She said. Nick looked at her.
"Was that really your Christmas wish?" Nick asked
Karen was about to say something but before anything could be said everybody came in the room and saw them.
"Aww how sweet, their under the mistletoe!" Jane said, "Come on you two, it's tradition." Nick looked at Karen and started to blush, so did Karen.
"Well, it is tradition." Nick said softly.
"Yeah." Karen nodded and both of them leaned in. The lips met softly. They pulled back at first cause they both felt something. Then they leaned in again, he put his arms around her waist, and her arms went around his neck. When they pulled back they looked at eachother.
"Both of my wishes came true." Karen said, "I knew the first one, it was for you to come home, but I didn't know what the second one was until now. It was to spend forever with you ."
Nick looked at her and smiled. "Mine was too, except, I knew it the minute I laid eyes on you." He said and brushed back her hair. "I love you Karen."
Karen eyes filled with tears, "I love you too Nick." And she leaned in and gave him a small kiss. For the first time in their lives they knew what love was, it was the one thing that would come true. It was their only Christmas wish.
