"Phone? Oh, the phone call. It was someone from the police." AJ said.
"Police?" Jennifer said, breaking into so hard of tears.
"Yeah. Erin..." AJ said.
"Erin?" Kevin said, shocked and amazed Erin would call.
"No, that wasn't her that CALLED. The call was about her. Something
happened, and they want us to go down to the station and let them tell us."
AJ said.
"So, that wasn't her literally on the phone?" Kevin asked.
"No. It wasn't." AJ said.
"OK, let's go." Jennifer said, relieved that AJ wasn't in trouble.
Kevin and Danielle, still picking the pieces from the floor, hardly budged.
"Did they say WHAT it was?" Danielle asked, hoping to get an answer.
"No." AJ said, with a straight out answer.
Dang, Danielle was thinking.
"Well..." Danielle said, not wanting to get up from the floor. "Now is as
good as ever." Danielle wanted to get this 'meeting' over with.
"OK, let's go." AJ said, getting his coat and reaching out of the door.
"No," Nick said, "I'm not going down there."
"Why not?" AJ asked.
"Is there HONESTLY a reason for me to go down there?" Nick asked.
"Yes, there is." AJ said.
"Please tell me. Because, as I recall, correct me, if I'm wrong, she was
YOUR girlfriend, not mine." Nick said, standing proud.
"That's correct. But, you were still a friend." AJ said.
Nick still didn't budge.
"Are you coming?" AJ asked.
"No." Nick said.
"I don't think I am either." Jennifer said, clinging onto Nick.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but, I believe that you were the one that wanted
to go in the very beginning." AJ said, now standing proud.
"Correct. I did. I changed my mind. I don't want to anymore." Jennifer said.
"Why?" AJ asked.
"Because, I want to stay home." Jennifer said, starting to inch closer and
closer to Nick.
"Why did you change your mind so suddenly?" AJ asked.
"Just because." Jennifer said, burying her face in Nick's shirt.
"Because."
"Because?" AJ asked.
"Because, Nick isn't going...and I want to stay with him." Jennifer said.
"Oh..." AJ said, lifting his head up.
"Oh? Oh what?" Nick said.
"OK, I'm going." Danielle said, looking at Brian, and Jessica, seeing if
they were going to come.
"OK, OK, I'll go." Brian said, standing up from his chair.
"I'm tagging along." Jessica said, grabbing her coat.
Howie was still staring at the place that the computer used to be.
"Howie?" Jessica asked, wondering if he was mentally with them. "Howie?"
He just sat on his chair, looking at the now wall.
"Howie?" Brian said, snapping his fingers, and swinging his head around,
trying to get some attention from him. "Howie? Are you coming with us?"
"How could've we done that?" Howie said, remembering the movie. "How?"
"Done what?" Brian asked.
"Pushed Erin out." Howie said.
"Out of what?" Jessica asked.
"Our lives. You were all here when the movie played! 'And this young lady
is going to be my maide of honor.'! Her words!" Howie said, quoting Alexis.
"Her words."
Kevin just straightened his back. Howie did have a point, they did push
her out. She was Alexis's friend...one of her best friends.
"She didn't mean to hit Alexis! She kept apologizing at the hospital! She
kept apologizing to Kevin, too. She was sincerely sorry, if you ask me."
Howie said.
Everybody, suddenly, turned and looked at a picture of Alexis and Erin.
"We pushed her out, and she's not in anymore. She is out on the streets as
far as we know. As far as we know...she's the one that's gone." Howie said.
While everyone was solid, looking at the picture, Danielle, slipped out of
the door, un-noticed.
