“Yo Brian, you here?” I called out. No one answered. “Hmm, guess he left.” I went into the kitchen and put all of the grocery’s, when I finished I went in my room. There was the cutest thing I’d ever seen. Brian was asleep on my bed holding one of my teddy bears. I guess he was laying down and just grabbed it to look at it, then fell asleep. I smiled and walked over to him. I kneeled down to where I was right beside him.

“Why am I doing this to myself? All I want is to be happy, but in my heart it feels like to be happy, I have to be with you.” I whispered. “But I don’t even understand why I feel this way. Why am I falling for you when I just fell for my best friend? But not even Nick can make me as happy as you do.” A lonely tear drop cascaded down my cheek.

“I want to make you happy.” Brian whispered. I jumped back startled while Brian opened his eyes. Brian got up and came over to me.

“Brian I can’t…” I started to say but Brian placed a finger over my lips. He softly pressed his lips upon mine. I knew it was wrong, but it felt so right. In the middle of the kiss I pulled away and walked out of the room. I walked out of the house and headed straight to the beach. I sat there, and tried to think things through, impossible as it was.

Meanwhile with Brian

When Nikki left it took Brian a couple of minutes to realize what was happening. He ran outside but she was already gone. He cursed himself and got to his car and drove to Nick’s. He explained what happened and they both went out to look for her. Nick had a pretty good idea where she was. He walked on the beach and saw her there, looking out at the ocean. At their spot.

“You ok Nikki?” He asked softly, she didn’t turn around. “You know, Brian’s really scared, he didn’t want it to be like this, he just wants you to be happy.”

“You know?” Nikki asked quietly, and turned around. Nick nodded.

“I’ve known it ever since he laid eyes on you, I knew how he felt. I knew what you felt about him last year.” He laughed softly, “The truth is, I did like you. You know, more then friends. But I saw the way you looked at him, and I knew you loved him.”

“Love! Who said anything bout love?” Nikki exclaimed. Nick just smiled again.

“Come on Nikki, we’ve been best friends, for what? 10, 11 years? I can see it.” Nikki sighed softly.

“I don’t want you two to think I just go around saying I love you to everyone.” Nikki said quietly.

“You didn’t say I love you to me.”

“But people probably thought I did.”

“No they don’t, they all know you love Brian. Anyone can tell.” Nikki looked him in the eyes.

“Does he love me?” She whispered. Nick smiled at her.

“So much I can’t believe it.” Nikki smiled.

“I guess I better talk to him huh?”

“Yeah.” Nick gave her a hug and she ran off to her house. But when she ran a couple of steps she turned around.

“Thanks Nick! You’re the best!” She yelled and started to run again. Nick laughed and walked back to his house.
