Aj sat there emotionless. It finally clicked in his brain what was said, and he got up and left. I sat there, and tears slipped down my face.
“He doesn’t feel the same.” I thought and sat against the wall. I closed my eyes and I guess I wasn’t paying attention cause the next thing I knew I felt someone wipe away my tears. I opened my eyes and it was Aj. He never did say a word, but like they say, actions speak louder then words. He slipped a ring on my finger, not an engagement ring, but a small silver ring with a diamond in the middle. He stroked the side of my cheek and ran his fingers through my hair. I closed my eyes and then he leaned in and kissed me. A soft, sweet kiss that words could not describe. When he pulled away he said something.
“This ring is was my mothers.” He held my hand and looked at the ring.” It was passed down from generation, to generation. The eldest boy in the family got it, and give it to the girl he’s in love with.” I looked into his eyes. “And you’re the one I’m in love with.”
My eyes filled with tears, I was happy, but scared at the same time. Aj knew that.
“I know we’ve both been hurt, and I know your scared. But I love you Lauren, and you know that. I was in love with you for so long it hurt so much. They say love is for everyone if they can find it. But I know the love we have is not for everyone…Only this love is for the strong at heart.”
